Very often I come to these threads hoping to read how someone was able first break through and win big and never had to look back.

Thought it'd be credible to hear a pro's input in addition to members on CC.

Plus the game has changed so much that I feel it's harder now than it was maybe 5-10 years ago. The newer the pro is the better, because it would coincide more with my journey.

For me this is the best current book for poker, now you have to keep in mind that 5 years ago at this time things change but the game remains because the players tend to improve the game and if you leave a time to play you will surely not It is the same since several people surpassed themselves in practice and study.
