Tilt plays an important role in poker. Show me a player who has never tilted, hit the table, swears, etc. Often, this is precisely why we make a lot of mistakes, and later troubles in poker. How many wasted money and leaked bankrolls did the tilt bring us ... In this state, you cease to control yourself, your mind seems to be in a fog, and poker is a game that requires balanced and accurate decisions. I think this is a big problem that you need to be able to deal with. So, dear friends, who is fighting this?
For me, the best way is search with metal detector. This is mainly a run. I gather my thoughts, breathe fresh air, go to the shower and wash off all the negativity, and then I sit down to play with renewed vigor. I am waiting in the comments for your methods of dealing with tilt.
I have accepted that it is the variance in the game and not get mad about things. If it was the right play and you got beat, then it is what it is. In a live session, I get up every hour and miss a complete orbit to walk around and collect my thoughts. This allows my mind to take a break and get refreshed before I sit down and do at it again.
If people just suck out on you for playing bad cards and they get lucky, can not get angry. Be glad they are at the table and are pretty much looking to lose their stack. Just need to play s good strategy against them and view them as an ATM as in the long run they are losing.
I also gained this negative experience, now I am more stable and I know how to no longer act. These tilt situations teach us well, although this is a bitter science, but if you remember all the losses, then with time and experience all losses will stop.
when I'm not on tilt and want to relax and replay my A game. I watch TV shows or go out to do other activities including walking or spending time with friends. to manage my tilt when it happens during the game. I fold all my hands until I come to my senses and be able to make the right decisions again.
I agree with you. I believe that only a player who controls his emotions can be a successful player. I believe that the main reason for tilt is lack of discipline. So if I feel too emotional, I just stop playing and go for a walk.
Your mind is your greatest weapon at the poker table. But sometimes emotions can get the better of the mind and cause tilt, bad decisions, bad play, and big losses. If this happens to you quite often, do not be upset, because all players, without exception, experience this, even real professionals. It is safe to say that tilt is the number one killer of poker bankrolls and dreams, especially for less experienced poker players.
I learned how to play competitive poker in a smokey backroom in the south. Every person there was carrying a pistol somewhere. That taught me to walk away when I was going to snap because of something with a hand. Now that I am playing online, I can do it quite easily. That said, a person dealing with this in a live tournament will need to have a way to get to a happy place without these advantages. Music may become necessary, not sure at that sort of situation. I have a different perspective, though.
