Hi guys,

what do you guys tend to do when going back to ABC poker, just wondering the basics, like when going back to basics. Seems like a silly question writing it out but i've gotta ask LOL

It works but if your playing the same people they will bet you out of it eventually, you'll end up having to adapt. I would recommend tight aggressive instead.

Ok great, thanks for that! TAG is what I was going to go for but again don’t you think being TAG is easily readable also?

Tight Aggressive, got it. Yeah TAG is probably the only way to learn, at least the most efficient.

Yeah that seems reasonable enough, can I ask, from your experience, on a 6 max cash game would you say opening 11-14% under the gun is tight range or say between 15-20% from High jack

11-14% UTG is not tight that would probably be > medium or more so close to loose, I would think something like 3-4% UTG and 7-11% HJ.
Concern yourself with a decent preflop guide for now, upswing poker has one for free check out their site, stick to it and play from there. From that comes some order in the chaos and then from there comes options and ideas.

Ok thanks a lot for that, aren’t the ones on up swing based on a full ring game though, or doesn’t that make a difference ?

It would so your stats are probably nearly correct or spot on. I honestly don't know, I don't play much 6 max but I dare to say they would be a little reduced compared to the numbers you've put up. Try find a 6 max preflop guide, message the guys at upswing they'll probably put one out after you've asked. Definitely in the ethernet somewhere.

TAG is what I try to focus on when I find I am having a downturn at the poker tables. I try to focus more on position and hand selection, making strict decisions and not trying to get creative with my play. I want to get back to raw basic foundational poker.

TAG can be easier to read but sometimes I feel the need to re-center my game, and use that to see if my reads on players are still accurate or I am talking myself into plays I should not be making.

Basics of poker to me means waiting for a good spot and just playing straight forward, Minimal bluffing or none at all... Play good hands, get in cheap for set mining or suited connectors and try to get value.

ABC to me is simplicity. Nothing fancy. Tight starting requirements.... Fit or fold on the flop....don't get cute with check raising draws and long shot outs. reduce crying calls (you know...the hands you "know" you're beat but the pot odds dictate a call...just fold it).

Like I have mentioned before, you can talk about all the poker theory you want, just remember this. I am convinced that there are many "clairvoyants" roaming this earth and some of them have taken to the game of poker. If one of the seats of the game you decide to settle into is filled by him/her (a clairvoyant is what I am referring to), I suggest you flee to another game. Ain't no amount of "poker theory" gonna beat that _ _ _ _ (another word for organically produced fertilizer). Let me interject at this juncture, I possess absolutely 0% attributes concerning clairvoyance. I guess that's why I have to be so careful not to rub shoulders on the poker table with any of them. At this point I'm sure you're asking "How do you discern the presence of a clairvoyant"? That's the part I'm still working on. I don't know if this is prudent but I just watch their chip stack. If it keeps getting bigger because they are consistently "getting it in good", well then, they are more than likely just a good poker player. But if they are raising or 3 betting, and maybe even 4 betting their draws, and if they keep hitting those draws, well now you have bumped into a player that is running spectacularly good or you have a clairvoyant on your hands. Either way, I'm startin' to look for an open seat on another table. My last comment? If you made it all the way to the end of this diatribe you are a better man/woman than me!

abc starts with hand selection
moving away from top ten adds d e and f to your game
you want to avoid d's and f's those are bad grades
not the one to offer advice but think about it

I try not to have to go back to the basics in the first place. Doing this implies you have strayed from your solid, time tested opening ranges by position and turned to some sort of "feel" method of play. that may work in the short run, but in the end playing too many hands out of position is a recipe for losing.

I prefer to learn online from, in ABC is to much theory, I like playing in a casino, at the beginning I have free bets to learn the way everything works and then after a period you start doing real money. When I clicked here I started to learn more about poker. Best way for me, I don’t assimilate what’s in ABC. Hope somebody do understand me.

In my understanding, ABC - is a game by charts and the complete absence of bluffs. As well as the strategy "fit-or-fold". Strict counting of pot odds, outs, 3bet with premium hands etc.

The basics of the game are always a very important component for every successful player, because it is the base on which the strategy and tactics are built. If the basis is not perfect, in this case, there can be no strategy, tactics and obvious result.

The ranges you recommend is more fitted for full ring. 11-14% UTG in a 6-max game is a reasonable range.
