Hi,

I'm new to the community and playing poker for actual money. I noticed there is a "new" 30 day poker course. I'm really just looking for advice from people who have done the course or tied it. I am a keen learner so is it worth it?

But I got the felling that it is very basic!
However I never done a poker course before, therefore It is very good on make understand a few aspect of the game that I didn't know it!

Great thread mate!

As someone who hasn't taken the course either I've been wondering about graduates' experiences myself..

I know people who complete it get an awesome badge on their profile for it!

Having studied strategy reasonably intensively at times, with way more than 10,000 hrs and millions of hands, I'm fairly confident and relatively happy with my progress so far but I still have every intention of taking the course anyway regardless of the fact that some of the topics I'll have learned about before.

Revision is helpful and I want the awesome accolade on my profile before March ideally!

I'd certainly recommend the course to anyone who hasn't studied strategy yet- it'll be an eye-opener and game changing to their reasonable expectations.

It is a great course - and it is free so you have nothing to lose by trying it out. :)

My understanding is that each of the 30 days focuses on a different topic, it starts with the basics and gradually looks at more advanced concepts along the way.

I have watched all the videos but not read the written material. I did this, when I was already a somewhat experienced player with at least half a million hands under by belt, so for me it was mostly a refresher course, but I still learned a few new things. Collin and Katie are tournament specialists, so the course is mostly targeted at tournament players. For this reason there are not many hand examples with deep stacks like 100+BB, which would be more typical for cash games.

I think, the course is certainly enough to make anyone a winning player in micro (up to 4$) and to some extend even low stakes (5-15$) tournaments, if you understand and actually implement all the concepts and strategies, that are tought, and avoid making a lot of tilted mistakes. But if you are a cash game player, you might want to check out Blackrain79.com instead. For me this is some of the best free poker content on the internet, and to get something better I think, you need to go to the paid training sites like Upswing Poker or Pokercoaching.

It is really worth it, I recommend it to me, it helped me a lot in my game, I improved a lot, I am no longer binguera, now I play as a professional tournament. Before I did not know what it was to reach the final table now out of 10 tournaments 2 are a good final table although I reached the final table crawling :D and I have not yet won first place, but for what I played before if there has been better luck in your strategy

Should perhaps clarify, that I am talking about the 30 day CC course, when I say "some of the best free poker content on the internet". Some of Blackrain79´s content is actually paid but still rather cheap. What Nathan (blackrain79) and Collin/Katie have in common, is, that they focus on beginners and strategies, which work in the micro and low stakes games, that most people actually play.

If you want to learn perfect GTO strategies, then the paid training sites is the place to go. But these strategies are for playing against good thinking opponents in mid or high stakes games. They are not for playing against a bunch on donkeys, who are drunk on a friday night, and have certainly never read any poker books or watched training videos.

If you try to play "perfect" poker against this kind of opponent, you just end up hurting your winrate. Your fancy check-raise bluff on the river is not going to work against this kind of player, because it only cost them 3 dollars to enter the tournament, and they hate being pushed around.

Thanks very much, Fundiver! Your comments all over this forum are full of valuable insights, and it’s very flattering that you wanted to do the course even with your level of experience :) .

You’re right that it is for tournament players and the stakes you listed were very much in line with our goals in making it. Thank you very much for the kind review!

Hello, thanks for responding. Have you taken the course yourself?:)

here is the link:

https://www.cardschat.com/become-a-winning-poker-player/

That was me and yes I took the course as soon as it was completed. It was an awesome refresher overall - but I also picked up some new tips that have really helped me out. I don't play much anymore but I won my league game last night. :)

I noticed after I posted I was still logged into the admin account. I logged out to delete it and re-post but apparently got sidetracked lol.

Hats off to card chat. Perhaps their course is not some kind of intergalactic rocket that will take you from NL2 to NL200 overnight. But this is really high quality content without water and is not only suitable for beginners. To obtain it, you do not need to pay anything directly, unlimited access to video courses, lessons, knowledge of theoretical materials and an e-book. opportunity . In addition, it works quickly, without hesitation, as adequately as possible and a lot of useful and unique (!) Information and disciplines. along the way. If I started to study today, I would choose, Everything is done clearly and beautifully, soundly and at a good level!

Thanks Besplatnee!

For sure beating NL200 online requires advanced skills. But we hope people playing micro and low-stakes games, or anyone who wants a solid review of the fundamentals, will get a lot of information from our course :)

I am taking this course as a refresher course and I am really looking forward to it. It has been only about a month since online poker became legal again in Michigan and my beloved pokerstars allowed my sweet return.

Before this, it has been 10+ years since I had played poker online and the last time I played I was definitely more confident and knowledgeable than I have been since my return. I have made a couple of final tables at MTT and increased my bankroll from $20-$150 playing nothing higher than $1-$3 Sit n Gos or MTT. A few $1 Spin n Gos just to try them out. I definitely can use a refresher so I just wanted to say thank you so much!

Hi, I have just started going through it and I think it's great content for free! I've seen far far worse that's paid. You need a donate button [emoji6] my question is do you have plans to go to the next level with it? And if not can CC recommend where to look next to add new layers and levels that builds on this?

Thanks

A more advanced course as a sequel to our first one is a very nice idea, thanks [emoji4] and glad to hear you like the course! Just let us know what type of poker you’re playing and I’ll try to point you in what I think the best direction would be for your game.
