If I remember correctly, a very long time ago I read
you flop a set (3 of a kind) every 7.5-8.5 times you have a hole pair.
At Betonline I've been playing for about a week,
in that week I've seen about 60 hole pairs.
Out of those that saw the flop, I've hit 2, only 2 sets.
I think about 25% (15 hands) I took the pot with no flop.
about 10-15 percent, I folded to a raise 6-8, maybe 10
That leaves approximately 35 hands.
Out of those 35 I flopped 2 sets, that's an average of 1 every 17.5 hands.
That's pretty bad compared to what I read is the average overall.
I'm wondering if anyone else is as unlucky as I have been or has even noticed or keeps track ?
Fortunately for me I noticed early I don't hit the set on the flop and get in for as little as possible, or fold, so I minimized my losses that way.

(posted this, then hit a set)

Sounds like bad luck. Pretty small sample size so hopefully it evens out for you. I play on BOL as well and never noticed that. though I also do not specifically track it.

^^^^ Bingo - your sample sizing is way to small. You are correct- somewhere around 1 in 8 pocket pairs will flop a set - these numbers are based on an average of mathematical scenarios run hundreds of thousands of times - if not millions. They average out to nearly 1 in 8.

Dont be disappointed or discouraged. What you are seeing and experiencing is normal. Sometimes I dont see AA for days worth of 6 hour multi tabled sessions - sometimes I see them every hour - even back to back. It's normal. Play your pairs accordingly and do not overvalue them.
