So I have a question...

(this makes sense in my head but want to get feedback)

I want to start playing $60 total buy in MTT at my local casino... I don't have $6000-12000 dollars for 100 buy-ins or 200 buy ins... I was a winning SNG 9 man turbo player on pokerstars before with probably a 6-10% ROI playing about 10 tables at a time (about a 2000 game sample size)...

Would a pay as I go bankroll work if I can swing it with my monthly budget if I track my results?

I basically want to play in one $60 dollar tournament a month... and over the years just track my results... I figure if I win in the long run (which 12 tourneys a year will be a very long run, maybe 20 years from now) I win and I'm slightly ahead and I have more than what I put in....

Do you guys think with all these considerations that this makes sense?

** I'm not doing this for supplemental income... any winnings would stay in this bankroll fund.
**The $60 a month is basically from a form of passive income that is separate from my active income and I can afford to lose it...
**My motivation is partly for fun and partly for long term ROI.

I appreciate your feedback!

That's totally fine as its separated from your other financial needs/responsibilities.

Just make sure the MTT structure is worth the effort. The lower buy-in MTTs often have a terrible MTT struct that will really cut into the profits in the long run.

thanks OSMB... yeah I know what you mean... I believe only like $45 if to the purse and the rest is fees.

I think MTT poker is exponentially better online unless you are playing a promo MTT live with special considerations just IMO. Live local MTTs have terrible structures with minimal socialism value. Do not ever bet more than you can afford to lose as scared money never wins as the saying says and doing so is the tell tale sign of gambling addiction.

Tell us the structure of the MTT you want to play. On ACR you can get some serious value in the upcoming MOSS.

The 100 BB formula for grinding MTT is exactly that...for grinding. Playing in only one $60 tournament per month doesnt really require much bankroll management because youre only spending $720 per year or $60 per month. as long as you have the funds to play 1 tournament per month you have enough for what you are wanting to accomplish. In MTT play there is a TON of variance. If you are looking to make decent money from playing poker you are going to have to play much more than 12 MTT per year. Hope This Helps.

45$ buyin 15 goes for rake? thats kinda scary LOL i wouldnt play that, dont think thats even beatable unless theres a GTD which isnt met coz not enough people plays, but yeah i mean 60$ tourneys will be super soft, and playing 1 of those a month cant hurt your bankroll anyways even if its a very small bankroll, but as that rake is crazy high, i would expect 5-10$MAX for rake in a 60$ tourney, even 10$ is in high range IMO,so 15 just sounds insane and i m not sure any player is gonna be a winner in that pool unless they are super crusher and/or GTD isnt met and theres overlay.

Thanks guys... I appreciate the input! Yeah the structure sucks... I'm probably just going to play it seeing as how its the only real one that lines up with my budget and schedule... Probably a break even play in the long run... maybe I can at least establish a bankroll with some wins down the line... I'm going to lose money in the long run I'm sure... Right now its worth it just to go have some fun! Appreciate the feedback again !
