Revealing pocket cards

I know that a button appears to show your pocket cards after you won a pot.
Also, I noticed that sometimes, a player will flash one of his pocket cards in the middle of a betting round.
I have seen this on different poker rooms including PS and 888.
I can't figure out how they do it.
Can someone please Explain?

Is it really that he can show the cards? But what room do you specifically refer to?

At poker stars if you are in the big blind and one or more players are all in preflop before folding there is the option of showing one or both cards with a left click on the card.
