The entry fee into the poker stars Sunday Million Guaranteed has been lowered to $109 from $215 with the guaranteed payout remaining the same.

I was sitting on a $215 entry ticket that I had previously won and Poker Stars awarded me two tickets for the $109 entry in exchange for the old one. I think its pretty cool that now I have two bullets for this tournament instead of one.

It appears for now that the costs for the satellite tournament remain the same.

What's your thoughts on this change? Does it make it more likely that you will play in it?

The satellites have also reduced the price by half. The reduction of the buyin implies that at least there must be twice as many players to be profitable or am I wrong?

This would be correct.

Assuming $100 goes to the prizepool and $9 goes to rake, there will need to be more then 10000 entrants to increase the 1M prizepool.

That's an interesting question. I dont know if they raised the rake or not but I am sure they have algorithms that can predict the profitability.

The $11 midday satellite into the Sunday Million was still $11 today when I looked and not $5.50

Of course they have always had satellite tournaments where you can enter for $1.10, $2.20, $7.50, $11 and $22. I am curious as to which one was cut in half.

It will be interesting to see if the fields double from the approximately 6000 entrants that play weekly.

Im still trying to improve my game before I work the courage up to enter, but if I can satellite in I will.

You guys are still pretty lucky to get $1 million dollar prize pool for 110 bucks. It does not change the fixed costs to the MTT too much and if they changed it to 8 max giving it more tables hence more hands hence more knockouts it would be similar amount of players you need to defeat personally to get to final table. Though to calculate a NLH MTT is to calculate the universe.

I think it is a good thing for the casual player to have the opportunity to enter the sunday million for less, although it will lengthen the tournament having significantly more participants. Might not go down too well with the regular entrants.

It's most likely i will play it more with the lower buy-in,,,,a hundred bucks for a chance at some serious bank sounds alot better now,,, :p

If I remember right, they already did this for a few weeks and then turned it back to normal.
I'm wondering if they will change it for good this time, for me it's very good, since I don't have a big bankroll.

God it must be nice to be able to play on pokerstars. Even though this will obvious increase the field size, it will also soften the overall tournament by quite a large margin. I miss playing on this site so much, so jealous !

This will be probably the best mtt value on the internet now

Always was thinking to play in Sunday million one day. So no its gonna be more realistic there's big difference between 100 and 200 from your bankroll.

Now i understand... the same prizepool of last weekend, double of players and less prizes... the new buy-in only changed to charge more rake. PS keeps killing everything good

On the one hand it's great, because now more players will be able to play in this tournament, but on the other hand would ensure that the quality of the previous payments the bank should be twice the size, not 1 million and 2 million. The amount of payments will be larger and the amount of payments less. Previously, in the first place could win 200 thousand, and now 100 thousand.

I suppose that with that they seek that more players can participate in that tournament, which is good, because as it reduces the price of the satellites many may have the option to participate for much less money than before, I think it's a good initiative

it is great news and it would increase the likelihood of me participating in the sunday million though it is an extremely tough field each week

I was told the rake of this tournament is now $18 up from $15. Although this doesnt really bother me I feel like it should. At what point does it become excessive?

I think the average player sees only the opportunity to win big and they would get away with a rake of $23 dollars. Dont get any big ideas PokerStars! At some point it has to hit a breaking point.

I would be interested in hearing peoples take on the rake. Where does it become excessive and where does the average player say this is too much, I am not going to participate?

109 buy in $9 towards rake only cost $18 if re-enter by the looks of it quarter of the field roughly.
Looks standard couple of grand extra on rake in total if 3000 players pay extra $3 would be $9000.
15550x9 =139950 need to keep numbers up how many players lose heart in that 15000k plus field though waits to be seen
whether numbers will rise or fall.
Suppose 6000 x 15 = 90000 in previous 215 game on average.
plenty of $215 tournaments still running if wanted to save on rake.
June week 2

Increase rake from 7.5% to 9%. And that's not all, the field has tripled to more than 15k against less than 6k regulars of this tournament. Then we have: field ridiculously huge, which translates into more variance and lower rewards. Thanks Pokerstars, you did it again.

Sunday million prizes - $215

the only real winner is PS as I see it.
It's great to hear that you have 2 109$ but on another note people who grind 215$ are likely th people who grind 109$, I hardly see a differnce in field other than it's biger making youi AFS - shi... bad =) making you min cash more often and deep run less.
but the rake.... well you've seen post so when I read the benefits of lowering BI in SM, I'm a bit lost =(

In my opinion, this did not have to be done, since there will be much more players, and the prize zone will remain almost the same, who will play in this tournament will not be very pleased with this. But this is a tournament and everyone must fight.
