Firstly, there's a HUGE difference between whether we're referring to a Turbo Format (like the 45's on Stars, which are a shove/fold game from fairly early on).. OR something like a 45plyr SNG on Fulltilt.
Typical MTT guides/books won't be too relevant for the structure/format of the game.
Something to keep in mind, tables will become short-handed at a few stages of these games & it is crucial to keep your stack alive during these times, prior to getting back to 9handed play. Stealing & re-stealing is essential as blinds go up & you don't ever want to be open-raise/folding on a stack of <15bb's with a couple tables to go.
You don't necessarily need to accumulate in mid to later stages so much as keeping a stack that has fold
equity when game comes to shove/fold mode.
There are some decent guides out there online (but am thinking it wouldn't be right to post about them on this forum.... we don't afterall promote other forums on here.... do we?). On that note, the Shaun Deeb playing the 180's is okay but getting a bit outdated. Hunt a bit further & you'll see a much more recent 180-man guide (actually posted within the past 30days).
The 45's on Fulltilt are actually populated by alot of MTT regs. who use the 45's as their 'bread & butter' game (as it can often be pretty lengthy between decent MTT cashes). I've been fortunate enough to find a group of guys who are successful regs. in these as I've considered adding them to my own schedule. There are some decent vids. out there for playing the 45's too. Just need to look around.
As far as books go.... wouldn't hurt to have a decent understanding of STT/SNG & then obviously add in for the differences in format with multi-tables (ie. short-handed play & blind size vs. stack sizes you can expect to see as game progresses.... ie. final table play typically has a stack or two sitting with 10-15bb, a couple around 10bb & the rest slightly below this amount. There's a bit of room for resteals as final table starts out but then for most they're in shove/fold mode.
OP.. which SNG/MTT's are you referring to? (90's?, 180's?, 45's?..or all of them?). GL in them. They can be quite profitable to play. You can also expect to easily go 10-in-a-row with no dough, but when you hit a nice score it'll carry you over for sure.
