I have played a number of stars 6.50 turbo sngs now. I just started dabbling in FT turbos, and the structure is so different, I am just wondering how players differ in their play at these games?

I am mainly interested in peoples opinions who have played a number of turbos at both and are familiar with the differences in structure, and what adjustment you make depending on site?

Not sure if it's just my perception but the Stars levels seem to increase a lot quicker. Before you know it, you're in shove/fold with no room to wiggle.
I've been watching some videos on DC about turbo SNG's $525 and $250 buy-in and the tutor walks through great (check it out if you haven't already).

Well full tilts is an easier structure to learn, main reason is there are no antes to account for.

Competition wise, stars is definitely tougher than full tilt.

The only real differance is that on pokerstars, players fail to account for the ante, and it's harder to get your effective BB size. However while it may be harder, it's also more profitable, as less players are adjusting to the "adjusted BB size".

Overall full tilt is probably better for newer players. They have a really good rewards/rakeback program there, combine that iwth softer games, it's better for low - mid stakes grinders, who cannot achieve supernova on stars.

Antes obv. being the huge difference but also, on Stars the blinds take a jump from 100/200 to > 200/400 (that's a huge increase).

1-200 with 25 ante usually works out to be 150/300 depending on how many players are in the game, so it's pretty much the same.

Pretty much what both say, but miss something aside of antes.

S&G turbos in fulltilt are 3 minutes blinds when in Stars are 5 minutes, so in fulltilt are more like hiperturbos.

Need to consider that.

In my experience they tend to play basically the same. The antes in the pokerstars sngs slightly change a few of our decisions in late position, and maybe make marginal plays a little less marignal. What does this do to how we play? Well...really not that much. Maybe one fold every sng becomes a shove. But in the same regard, the FTP games without the ante promote a tighter play which allows you to wait longer and let the sub-par players knock themselves out.

Basically the math is still the math, the players are still people who need to be figured out, and as long as you react properly to the situations presented...it's the same.

Thanks for the answers.

I am fully aware of the structures at both sites. I have been playing only at stars and have been being coached, have been a member of a couple o coaching sites, and it seems to me that a large portion of video material about turbo sngs is weighted toward stars games, and since thats all I have played, I am tuned in to the structure. No antes and faster level with smaller increments were real confusing.

I was mainly wondering about thoughts on differences in approaches when playing these 2 different formats, not the differences in formats themselves.

Thanks, lol as I was typing my response above, you typed this. I actually have been playing a bit tighter at Tilt (however, much more aggressive when I do play i.e. I played a set yesterday where I did not enter a single hand w/o it being a raise, only 6 games but was ITM in all of em, lol), and am happy to hear you say this. But at first I was irritated by the different structure, but it war not long before I got used to how it feels.

Thanks for the response!

They've got a 120/240,& 150/300 thrown in there.

The times between are shorter though, right?

I'm pretty sure it works out that Full tilts games play slightly shorter on average than stars. Either way, the differance isn't huge, though i believe stars offers a little bit more edge with the antes, as most players don't properly adjust.

It seems to me that PS structure forces one to have to act earlier. It' like 50/100 then all a sudden 100/200 then after that add antes. Seems you must steal earlier or before ya know it it's shove/fold time. The FT structure is more gentle if ya ask me and gives more of a "mid game" period of steals and re-steals than PS. Also like not having to factor in antes in an STT. Fine in a longer lasting DS tourney but screw antes in a STT :). Just my opinion is all.

Oh BTW from what I have seen the $3.40's at PS seem softer to me than the $2.25's at FT for some reason. Never played too many other levels than that at PS. I Play $6.50 STT's at FT right now and am liking it.
