OK, so, this evening I had a bankroll of $0 but bought into the Daily Dollar on FT with FTPs. I earned myself a tidy $3, coupled with 240 FTPs. My question to you good folk is what is the best way to build this to a decent BR?

Obviously I could merely deposit and play some proper poker but I'd rather build this slowly. Should I change my game in any way to start moving the numbers?

Any words of advice, tourney or cash game choices etc would be great.

30c satellites on FT should help u alot. Look into them but if u win just unregister out of the daily dollar and u will get 1 tournament dollar which translates into 95c

Thanks for the responses.

Oz, thanks for the link- excellent excellent post. Glad I read it. Some really excellent stuff there.

I've seen the Ferguson advice on the Academy. My failure is sticking to it. Often lured by the MTT with the big payout, but after reading Oz's post, I'm going to try and cut that out and work on my STT strategy.

Looked for the 30c satellites to the DD but couldn't find them. There's 60FTP games there but I'm assuming the $T cash out isn't an option in those. Found 70c+10c satellites to the BLT, 3 cash from 9 for $2.20 and I'm one for one so far, so it's a good start.

The way that I did it, is playing in the super micro stakes cash games, play tight, as most people wont be, when you are double the buy in, switch tables.

Maximum of 1 table until you are at least 10 times the max buy in. Then 2 tables until about 50 times. At 100 times I'd move up.

Double up a few times and then you can start playing with a bigger stack if you want. When your br is what your brm strategy recommends for going up in stakes, move up.

Rinse and repeat.

MTT:
freerolls: Do not take re-buys, only add-on if you have an average stack. Normally at the addon, if you are short stacked, the add-on may help, but you have more chance just doubling-up with your current stack. If you have a big stack, the extra couple of chips isnt going to make that much difference.
Cheap MTTs: When you have 50x the buy-in, you can start trying these, budget on 1 re-buy and 1 add-on, use if required. Stick to your budget, but also use the same thinking as with freerolls around re-buys and add-ons.

Stay away from sngs until you are at 50x the sng buy in. Play tight again at low stakes, as most people won't be. Try find those that pay 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

I increased my BR from 50 to 500 like this in 2 months. I also won 500 for best hand of the day (Flopped a royal flush ;) ). So it hit 1000 in 2 months.

Atm i am trying to build my bankroll, i have had alot more success in the SNG then the cash games, ithink that is more my style, but i dont think it is right just to think that you can only grind at cash games.

I'd start by using up what you can of the FTPs. There is a 60FTP satty to the dailly dollar. I'd play these and unresister for the tourney if I won. Try to grind up as many FTPs as possible. If you grind up to over say 1,500FTP start taking shots playing the DD until you work up enough money to have 50 or so buyins(+$15) for the .30 satty someone spoke of. Grind those up till you got over 50 buyins for next level rinse and repeat.

I personally like the small stakes ring games. Or the 10c rebuy is a good tourney as well

Off topic.

What's with the sudden influx of "risne and repeat" I have been seeing lately on this site? Not just in this thread, but many others lately as well? Stupid question, I know....

Back to topic.

Re-read Oz's post, and follow it.

Also, here's my 2c:

Grinding micro satty's is also a great way to build, but instead of always unregestering and taking the buy-in, play one in every 5 you qualify for. Keep in mind that the players you are beating to win the satty are alot of the same players that are going to be actually playing in the tourney. If you are even half-good, you should be able to do well against them again. If you are winning enough satty's to boost your BR, playing in the MTT that the satty belongs to could potentially be a good boost to both your BR and your game in general.

playing in the small satty's is definitely a good idea if you can afford it, as you could see a potential big payoff. Aside from that, I try to grind it out at small stakes cash games, trying to net as much rakeback as i can

Keep building your bankroll through freeolls or if you want to take a short cut, deposit an amt. of money that is not too much? Maybe 50 bucks or so? And than establish bankroll rules and work your way from up there.
