I know there's more than likely dozens of opinions on this subject, so I'd like to read about many of them.
I've brought my BR from about $25 to $140 playing mostly 180 player S'nGs, Normal peaks and alleys as is always the case with poker, but never got below my original.
As I study info here and trying different games, I'm starting to wonder if that's the best game. I enjoy it, love it in fact, but is it the best for bring up the cash slowly?
With a $2.50 X 180 player S'nG (and I often play 3 at a time), you have to make the final table to more than double your entry, with the big bucks coming in the top 3 or 4 places. So 1 of 20 players get any decent ROI.
Earlier I was trying 4 X $1.50 Turbo & Hyper STTs, but I'm starting to realize the combination of my mental capabilities and poker skills wasn't doing 4 tourneys justice.
I just played a $7 Turbo STT and while a little slow at times, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Was able to pay better attention to just one table of players and what I was doing, plus, I find the quality of players much better, no donks (at least at the table I was at), seemingly less bad beats and none of this AI with 3-7O bull crap.
So with the $7 tourney, 3rd gets just better than 150% entry back, with the winner getting back over 400%.
With the $1.50 STTs, it would take 5 wins to beat the prize for 1 win in the $7 one.
With STT tourneys, 1 of 3 gets paid, so my thought is until my skill level gets better and I can consistently cash more in bigger MTTs, STTs are the way to go.
Is my logic flawed? What are your opinions?
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not going to get rich doing this, I'm just looking to keep the BR growing as my skills increase.
Thanks.
Jamie
