Until now I've play only (no limit cash 6max) $0.01/0.02 and $0.02/0.04 games.
As I started consistently win, I consider moving up in stakes. Strangely enough, I feel much more comfortable in $0.02/0.04 games than in $0.01/0.02.

Is there a big skill difference in $1/2 games ?

I think the biggest difference is, and this is strictly from my own psuedo observations, is that the number of fish and donks goes down as the stakes go up. A lot of the time on poker sites, especially the ones that have other things other than poker (like sportsbetting, casino games, etc.), you'll get a lot of people who won a few bucks there come in to the poker rooms and try it out without really knowing how to play well. As you move up though, you start to see a lot more people that have a general idea how to play basic skills of the games and less people who are just playing to play cause they have a few bucks to burn through. In general though every level will have at least some players at every table that are generally skilled so it's not so much the skill level is changing but instead the distribution of skilled players is changing if that makes sense. Do however keep playing at where you feel comfortable and where you are winning first and foremost though! Hope that answers your questions!

i think at the higher levels you play the more savy the player will be-you will still see some great players at .02/.04 tables just a lot more of them the higher up you go

Live no because player who want to play poker are forced to play $1/$2. Internet it is completely different as players play stakes they are comfortable. $1/$2 internet is difficult. Stay away from 5/10 live as it is where the juiciest fish are, keyword juiciest, the sharks are all at the 5/10 live.

nl 0.02 players do not play according to a game standard.
most play with what they have in hand or luck

I can't speak from a cash game perspective but I can tell you that the 9-mans at micro stakes are considerably easier than the 9-mans at low stakes and so on. Just smarter players who take the game more seriously, some even play poker for a living so it can be a real dog fight at times. They are still beatable but don't be surprised to see your ROI go down a little until you get adjusted to a more intelligent and grittier style of play.

Nice to know i am not the only 1c/2c or 2c/4c player. I have dabbled in 5c/10c, but only when it is the lowest stakes at a poker site.

Hello my friend and fellow tables. whenever gain a money in freeroll, like to play in cash game $ 0.01 / 0.02, I until early well, the more you can not be consistent enough to evolve my bankroll, always just losing, more am not frustrated or angry. I know i'm in a process of continuous improvement, I play League Elementary, this month got a score and month that comes think i'll be promoted to League high school, everything is a matter of time, the rush is enemy of perfection. The cardschat gave me the opportunity to join the club, I will try as much to reach a satisfactory level in the table and want to be competitive. I hope continue keeping posture and quality in my posts to the point of never leave the club.

The main difference is if you make a mistake you can get away with it, and you just need to play a C game and be patient

The higher you go you need to play an A game and be on it. I actually prefer this too

Compared to 0.01/0.02 cash games it only stands to reason that the $1/$2 stakes will have more solid players.

But if I may, instead of inquiring on this board, why not invest in a very small amount of funds $20-$30 and try it out for yourself?

The only way to determine how difficult this level will be for you is to actually participate in a few games to test out the waters.

The higher stakes are the less mistake people make also there is and less fish so before changing stakes you should consider that.

Poker is still poker at any level.

this:top:

Not this, because the question is not whether game changed because of the blind increase!

The question in the original post is: "Is there a big skill difference in $1/2 games ?"

Answer: ofc! As mostly replied, less fish, more players who think and grind regularly, therefore you need greater skill to be as successful in higher as you are at lower limits.

You could try it but always gotta remember the bank roll, the worst case scenario is you lose a few buy ins and begin experiencing doubt, once that comes in your going to be in the washing machine? Try it if you want but intentionally state beforehand "if I have exceeded my current limit I will go back". People grind for years, once you need more of the drug and you don't have the cash to pay it then you'll start experiencing problems.

They're both viable to be honest, probably just go up 2 levels at max to be on the safe side..
