I understand the concept of range although i'm far from understanding fully how each factor impacts on it.
I am currently reading a book and in an example its says based on certain software stats (the basic too) we know this player is of a certain type and therefore his range is X Y and Z.
My confusion comes from the fact that pocket 4s are in the range but pocket 5s, 6s etc are not. This seems a very oddly specific range to determine pre flop. Is there an explanation to this?
Also, as you essentially play certain hands in every position, surely range has no upper limit and its only the lower end which varies?
Finally, is there a place or book where I can appreciate hand strengths, i understand the monster starting hands and the importance of suitedness connectivity etc but it seems the book will suggest something along the lines of cutting out the weaker hands from your range, but surely I need to know the relative hand strengths of my range to do this - this is difficult when you get to the middle and lower part of the range.
Thanks for your help.
