I'm not new to poker by any means but i need some tips on how to build a BR and keep it. I play NLHE mtts for the majority and my buy-ins range from $1.25 to $6. I finish early-middle and middle a combined 60% and obviously that percentage needs to come down a lot.

Maybe i should only play all low buy-ins from now on until i get my BR back up some but i'm totally confused on how i can do this. Help me please

This should help you if you don't want to mention the size of your bankroll. https://www.cardschat.com/build-your-online-poker-bankroll.php

Play low buy-in single table sng's, the buy-in should be no more than 5% of your bankroll, and a great tutor for hu play. I've played 50c sng's that lasted longer than CC freerolls (lol) they also teach patience.

i would do what pothole says. try the stt's...they'll boost your confidence and piss you off at the same time at the micro levels...but that's what i do. you'll at least get a good laugh about it. you will rarely lose to anyone good...which means you'll lose to someone horrible...but just rules of percentages will keep you ahead. but what do i know...probably playing against the same ppl in the low buy-in mtt's. just bring a bottle of whiskey with you...the poker site you play at will provide the chasers.

How low is your bankroll?

Been meaning to answer but I had a cap haha

Anyhow yea my bankroll varies .. The most I ever had was like 125 bucks at one point but I was stupid and played a buy in for fifty bucks ... Then the least amount I ever had at one given time is about 5 bucks which is sad I know, but that's why I am trying to find out how to keep my bankroll when I do get it.. I know that was dumb playing a fifty buy in now.. but at the same time I am wondering how in the world will I ever build it up if I only stick to the micro buy ins since I won't win much in those.. make sense??

For tournaments you'll want about 20 buy-ins. This varies though.

The more players, the longer you'll go before a big win, which means your bankroll needs to be bigger to compensate for those inevitable dry spells. So MTT's will require a bigger bankroll.

Yatta yatta yatta...

Your realy problem seems to be overplaying. You overextend your bankroll, and if you're out early/middle so often then you're probably overplaying your hands.

As far as managing the bankroll part, I think you need to set yourself up with a system.

When I moved up in ring games I set goals for myself.

At $2NL I took $20 of my winnings and designated that "move up money." The rule I made for myself was that I could play at a higher limit with that, but if I lost it I'd have to move back down and play $2NL again until I had $25 profit. Then I could take $20 of that and play at a higher limit until I lost it, in which case I'd move back down to $2NL until I made $30 ($5 more than last time). Then I'd take $20 to the higher limit again.
So I would keep making a profit even if I yo-yo'd in limits.

It's a system that worked for me because I hated $2NL. It kept me from making "oh what the heck, it's only $.10" moves because did *not* want to move back down to $2NL. So suddenly, that $.10 wasn't "juat $.10 that I can win back later or redeposit an replenish" but it became "one step closer to that dreaded $2NL."

I like that system Mr.Penguin, if I can get myself going with my roll I will have to try this.
