Anyone have any feelings bout the FT Academy? I've sat through some of the SNL lessons, nothing too earth shattering so far.....

I've gone through some of them, and like you said there isn't much that's amazing in there. But I'd recommend looking through some of it from time to time. You can find some little jems in there.

I don't think there's much to learn if you're not a complete newby looking to pick up the online game. I do think it might help some as more of a refresher or a "back to basics" if they find themselves struggling. JMO

Some of the session videos are pretty good (the Brandon Adams ones on PLO, for example) and doing the challenges = free stuff.

Do the challenges and get into the freerolls would be my advice.

Just if you have 10 -20 mins free you can get a sit an learn done

The challenges are nice bonuses to your regular play.

Chris Fersguson's bankroll Management should be a must see for anyone. Also, the challeneges can help you try some techniques that you may not have given a chance to work for you... I especially learned a lot from his "never limp" tasks in the Pre-Flop Play challenge.

If you learn what they are teaching at the Academy you will be far ahead of the competition (assuming you play low stakes). Not many people are interested in basic, solid, fundamental play. That's where you can make your money at. You need to learn to walk before you can run.

Actually, there was one lesson I thought was downright horrible - Jennifer Harman's one on "sizing up your opponents". It was probably the subject matter because live poker reads isn't really a topic that's suited to a 10-minute online video. But yeah, super awful...

I think they are alright in the way of content, but nothing too valuable unless you are starting from scratch with your poker knowledge. I would recommend only doing a couple of the SNL lessons a month so that you can participate in as many of the 5K monthly freerolls during the year.
