I had a hand where it was a 4 way limped pot. K9A with 2 hearts. I had A10 os and led out with a 2/3 pot bet. Folded around to BB who calls. 3d on turn. I bet 2/3 pot, he calls again.

Then a 7s hits on the river and he shoves, roughly the size of the pot. This threw me off.

No flush or str possibility. I am thinking maybe he hit two pairs K7 or A7 on that river. Or maybe he was slow playing two pairs or a set (unlikely). Or it was a total bluff.

I didn't feel like the guy was a bluffer so I ended up folding because if it wasn't a bluff, then I could only beat ace rags given the hands he might have shoved and it's unlikely that he would have shoved with only ace rags since I had bet twice.

Should I have called here? My gut said I was beat, but it was kind of hard to let it go.

It would have been harder to watch your stack go.... Letting the hand go was probably correct. However, after villain c/c's the flop bet, you have to think one of 2 things, he really did hit or he is playing you. While you did have TP decent kicker, it won't beat a lot of the hands many loose players will come in with. I think you were in a good place to turn the tables on him, meaning you check the turn, then call his river bet.. You have to also know that your 2/3 bet could be taken as a cbet steal.

In this case the table stats (buy-in, reads, stacks etc) would really help us offer advice.

Assuming this was a low limit, deep stacked ring game, your A/T is rarely good there.
I see people shove for value all the time.

It's similar to the Beluga Theorem (which states that a check/raise on the turn means that your one-pair hand is not good).

I'm seeing a ton of people shoving for value at $25NL lately (been tinkering with Rush), and this is something I learned pretty early.

I've been running pretty bad in terms of cards.

Tonight been getting junk mostly. Finally got a chance to see the flop with 77. Nail a set... except there are three hearts on the board. I bet, villain calls. Turn is 3h. He checks. I check. The river is yet another heart. He shoves. I fold.

He shows me Ah.

Several hands later, tangled with same villain. I had QQ at CO. He raises to 12c (3xbb). I 3 bet to 36. 2 calls including villain. Flop comes KK8. Check, check. I bet half the pot. One fold, villain calls. Checks turn. I check. He shoves river. I fold.

He shows KJ.

Lost less than $1 between these hands fortunately as I proceeded cautiously... but it sucks when you wait and wait and finally get a good hand but the other guy has an even better one.

Still a bit above even over the last 3 wks thanks to rakeback, but haven't had much luck overall.
