I don't believe that good bankroll management is necessary to be a good poker player. There's a thin difference between a good player and a successful player, and while BR management is important to being successful, it is possible to become good without it.
Anyways, what really matters is how much that $10 really means to you, for example, that's 5 buy ins for .01/.02 (which supposedly Stars is looking into getting rid of). Five buy ins is not really enough to practice good BR management as a bad downswing can lead to you losing five BIs in minutes. However, if you are willing to redeposit and the original $10 is not the entire extent of your deposited bankroll, you'll be able to continue playing regardless.
If you are truly set on using BR management, you should probably play micro sit n gos so swings don't have a massive effect on your BR.
