Ok so I just set up a werstern union account and sent 100 dollars down to some random guy in the phillipines and it said that it denied my transaction, but today i got a letter from western union saying it was still going through.
Did I just get scammed? because I don't have the money for poker but it is still being sent to that random dude.

Thanks a lot guys, appreciate it.

According to this article {Link no longer works] the merge network, of which Carbon is a member, is temporarily blocking new US sign ups. This may be why your transaction was denied.

You might want to see what you can do about getting your transaction reversed. It doesn't sound good.

Good luck.

Simply call Western Union and cancell the transaction. They will give you an mtcn to retrieve your money. You will still be out the fee.
Do not tell them this was for poker.

I think that's how it works. Not 100% on that though, since I've never used WU to deposit on a site. It is again WU's TOS to use them for funding gambling, so you can't say, "Yeah, send this to X-poker site, please!" You have to go about it in a round about way. Maybe that's why it was declined at Carbon...with all the heat from Black Friday, perhaps they do not want anything to do with something that could be considered a deceptive practice in funding accounts.

Yes sending it to "some random dude" is the standard to get around WU restrictions. If you read the link I posted above, I suspect that is why it got rejected. Here it is again.

Actually that's unlikely to be why it was rejected. They're not accepting new players, they are still accepting deposits from current players.

More likely is that the OP screwed up somewhere, either by getting something wrong (name, address. etc.) or by not sending in US $$s. They will not accept the money if you don't specify that you want it sent in US dollars.

Your right WV. If I had been thinking, I would have realized that OP has to have an account already in order to deposit so, yeah, I'm an idiot. The US dollar issue or something similar is most likely.

I'll go sit in the corner now and quietly contemplate my stupidity. :banghead:

They are not accepting NEW DEPOSITS ... BTW, you should list your Player ID on your Profile page if you are interested in being qualified for CardsChat freerolls and real money Tournaments later on.

Good luck, Wally

Believe it or not, yes. Though I had never done so before, western union was my only choice to deposit on Carbon and I wanted to play the CC $$ games. I was like in an altered state while I went through the whole process--that's how spooky it felt to me. At the WU outlet I nonchalantly told the guy I was sending some money to a friend and, like WVH said, made sure it was in US dollars. He didn't question that at all--phew. And then there was the matter that he got the spelling wrong at first--I was soo glad I caught that. But in the end it was seamless and worked beautifully.

Black Friday has made us all feel like outlaws. Guess wanting poker and pot legalized makes me a very bad bad person. Honestly, I don't look threatening, but apparently the government is afraid of my opinions.

I was trying to make a new account on carbon and cake, had trouble getting registered. But it all went through last night/this morning.
I am interested in anyone having any trouble withdrawing any money?

Cant you also send it online? Or do you physically have to go down to WU counter?

One of the girls at my Wester Union outlet is also an online poker player so I never have any trouble as she understands what needs to be done , correct spelling US dolars, etc.
I had some problems at Carbon because I used a middle initial with a preiod after it and WU has no provision for a period in a name so I had to change my account at carbon and remove the initial and the period.
Everthing has to be EXACTLY the same or it will be denied.
