Any Good Deposit Methods left?

So, I want to get back into poker and just play recreationally, so I'd like to deposit a modest amount at a poker room. The problem is that apparently no poker rooms (any of the major ones anyway, PS, FT, AP) are accepting the pre-paid visa/mastercards anymore. This was my preferred method of payment.

So I thought I might try eCheck. However, after reading about this, it turns out that many of the major banks are denying these transfers as well (which sucks for those people because the money is actually instantly 'deposited' into the poker account even though the check hasn't cleared and they end up owing the poker room money if/when the check is denied by the bank)

So, in conclusion... are there any good deposit methods left for any of these poker rooms (AP, PS, FT)? :albertein I really want to play this weekend as I have some time off, but I have no good way to deposit, and I do NOT want to scrape around in freerolls until I have a decent enough BR to play with.

Thanks guys

I take it you live in the U.S. too? Insta e-checks worked for me at FT with no problem. I think it is much easier now than it was just a year ago. Try it out, worst that will happen is it won't go through.

I guess that's true. I just feel like I'm "on the grid" if I use the eChecks. Especially if it ends up not going through. I realize that 'technically' it's not illegal to play online, but I guess I'm just a little paranoid. It's obvious that if any action were to ever be taken it would be against the financial institutions/pokersites.

I guess I'll give it a shot. How long does it typically take for your bank to either clear/deny the transaction? Also, I've read that more and more banks aren't letting the eChecks go through... When was the last time you deposited using it?

Thanks.

About 1 minute or so. Don't worry about breaking the law unless you live in a state where it is illegal. I mean it wouldn't be you breaking the law anyway, it would be your bank.

I just deposited last month. FT sent me an e-mail saying if I deposited with this method they would give me $20. So I deposited $10 and they gave me $20. Sweet deal.

Wow that is actually a pretty great deal. I read somewhere that there was another promotion they are running where you receive $50 if you deposit $10.

I'll email Support and see if they are willing to offer me either of these.

I'll probably get the old "not currently running any promotions, but if you deposit using XXX code you can get a 100% deposit bonus"

yay!

my roommate just deposited on pokerstars using Echecks. Although he got an email saying it will take 15 days to clear.

Yeah, that's what I've read is the problem. Even though the check hasn't cleared with the bank yet, the poker-room will automatically 'deposit' your check.

The problem with this is that many users will have deposited $50, and 10 days later when the tranaction actually gets denied by the bank, they only have $15 in their poker account, which means they owe the poker site $35.

So for someone like me who may or may not have MADE money by the time the tranaction either clears or is denied, this is a very risky endeavor.

I guess I could just try it and not play until I find out if the bank will allow the transaction or not.... but that will take some will power...:D

Wow, I never had any deposit anywhere take longer than an hour. That's just wrong. Anyone ever have that problem at FT? I'm not sure if it's because I have deposited before with a different method with the same account or not, but that would straight up piss me off if it took that long.

Again, anyone have that problem with FT? Anyone else have money in account within a minute at FT?

Well you've already got advice for FT and PS, but you mentioned that you would be willing to play on UB/Absolute as well. They still accept all visa transactions and it is instant.

I use a prepaid card too and never have a problem.

Really? That's actually really good news... so you used a prepaid card within the last couple of months (after the June 1st UGIEA thing) and it has worked for you?

If so could you please tell me which type of card you bought? I'd really love to go this route if possible.

Thanks so much. I look forward to hearing from you.

I use the same netspend card I've been using for the past 2 years. Yes deposits after June 6th have gone through the same way they did before.

The netspend card is free, but you will have to pay between $3-$5 to load it. Each outlet charges different price. Or you can transfer money from a bank account to the card. I think this cost $5. Flat fee no matter how much you load with both methods.

I think what they're referring to is the deposit clearing your bank. If you use eChecks, it is available instantly on the poker site, but takes a few days to clear your bank account. Can't remember if I ever used eChecks on FT, but on PS when you use eChecks, they will not allow you to do any player to player transfers with that money for 10 days. Any winnings you make of course are free and clear during that time.

I've used eChecks for PS and never had any problems that OP is worried about. If you're paranoid about it, you could try a small deposit and see how it works out for you. Also, I have made deposits on bodog in recent months using my Visa debit card, so something to think about. I think you can also use your Visa on Sportsbook as well.

Flowers

I think they use different names for bank to deposit to (usually something like a flower store that delivers) and as the banks catch on they change the name as often as they need to.I havent had a problem with E checks at full tilt but im sure it happens from time to time and then the site changes the name for bank.;)

You're right, some sites do that. I had my bank call me when I used my debit card to deposit once, to make sure that I was the one charging it. I gave the ok and it went through fine.
