half way through late reg, 353 out of 427 players remaining (expecting another 200 to 300 to join the game before reg closes)
average stack is about 130 big blinds
top 80 places pay if the expected 600 players play

mostly blank flop, looked like a Cbet bluff, figured my best shot to make a comeback would be to put him at a decision for a large portion of his stack.

I thought about 3betting to 4bb preflop, but ended up deciding to call and see the flop. would it have been better to 3bet pre and cbet the flop? or just fold pre and wait for a better spot? with blinds about to go up, i didnt want to see my chipstack hit 12 big blinds before seeing a chance to put my chips in.

or maybe flat call the flop and check raise the turn?

he's been at the table 9 hands, hasn't played a single hand yet, so you decide to pull a move on him because you have position and you just think he's bluffing with absolutely no shred of evidence suggesting he might be looser than average. 9 hands is nothing to go on, but i would be thinking this guy would be on the tighter side of things as far as reads go so far.

Adding to that we have a 40vpip on the button next to us, so chances are we will be playing this in a multiway pot. We also have a looser than average player in the SB at 27% thus far, so overall it's not really a great spot to be trying a positional play here, just fold it and conserve your chips for a proper power move later with a 3bet/jam flop type line, not a great play here at all.

I do agree that his c-bet is weak most of the time, especially as we should assume he's tighter than average this flop shouldn't hit him that often. but yeah, you will be getting yourself into trouble more often than not in these spots.
