it was like my 15th hand since sitting down..bought in with 6 bucks was on a lil heater. well, the raise pre then the 20 cent after the flop maybe i should have raised there??? well the turn paired, i figured if hes a good player he might put me on a set, and lay down an AJ or so, i threw out the small re raise, then the river, though i must be beat, only got one chance at winning this pot, and he flips that, said to myself "wow",

Im mainly a tourney player, im wanting to make my way into cash games slowly but surely so im looking for any and all advice thank you.

It's an especially bad play on his part because he can't even put you on a likely draw. There was no draw on the flop. The only time he beats you is if you floated the flop with the intention of totally bluffing the turn AND you followed up with the big river bluff. He played it like crap. He just couldn't let go of a big pocket pair on a bad board.

I don't think I like your play, though. If he isn't folding QQ, then he's never folding a better ace. I think he rarely has a worse ace because of the PF min raise, but that varies from player to player. Also, the river wasn't even a slightly scary card, so if he was calling you on the turn with a better ace, he's definitely calling the river. You have a hand with good showdown value, so I don't see why you feel the need to bluff the river anyway. After he calls the turn raise, I would be checking down the river for value, not expecting to get called by a worse hand. I would have been wrong about that last part, though, so who knows? Maybe this guy is so donkish that it's right to cap whenever you have top pair. Without a read, I wouldn't assume this is the case.

In this instance, you made the right move for the wrong reasons. In general, though, I think you're going to lose money or win less money by playing the hand this aggressively.

i dont like your play in this hand... the raise on the turn is so small that it doesnt give u any information at all where your at, cause your opponent is priced in... also from the way he played the hand i would believe he had you crushed...

especially after he calls your raise on the turn checking on the river would ve been the right play...

i d say u got lucky you werent beat and even more, that that donkey called you.. did you believe you had the best hand when he called??
