Gettin a little crazy with the aggro approach to ring games...

full tilt poker
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.25/$0.50
6 players
Converter

Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is Button with 5♣ J♠
3 folds, Hero raises to $2, SB folds, BB calls.

Flop: 3♣ 6♦ J♣ ($4.25, 2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $2.5, BB raises to $7.5, Hero calls.

Turn: J♦ ($19.25, 2 players)
BB bets $12, Hero raises all-in $40.25, BB .......

'course I don't make this play with 1000s of hands on the dude, but even so....

(both ~$50 stacks)

Hmm... I'd bin this pre-flop, even on the button, it's junk. At least raise with a hand that has sneaky potential to make a strong hand (e.g. suited connectors), so you'll know where you are.

I think you can also bin this after he check-raises on the Flop, unless you can somehow put him on a stone bluff, which you can't.

On the turn... well you may or may not have sucked out on him. You're now beating overpairs, but still behind a bigger Jack or a flopped set. I'd be uncomfortable about calling here, but if you're not folding, I think you have to just call. The only reason to raise would be if you were sure he was on a flush draw, which doesn't seem too likely.

To make the turn bet work you have to put him on,

33, 66, QQ, KK, AA or complete bluff. The only draw is 45.

I'd say QQ-AA make sense but then your flop play becomes suspect.

Got to admire the aggression though :)

J5o? nahh..... (sarcasm ;))

I've got thousands of hands on this guy, and by this time had raised his blind like 1000000 times without contest (often with worse hands). I was just trying to get under his skin.

His check-raise was really quick and 'scary looking', as in he wanted it to look like he hit it hard. As was his turn bet.

The flop call was a little iffy, my guess is that it was 50/50 whether or not my read was right, and I decided to call it and reevaluate on the turn to see what he'd do. What I didn't want to do was show that I'd give up on a c-bet.

The third jack could have been a real disaster (had he had 33,66 or a bigger jack), but I think a set plays it differently, and it's pretty unlikely he's got the case jack. I was 90% sure he had a middle pair; something like 99. Who knows, he could have laid a trap with QQ+ and decided he was beat on the turn.

I think the 'best' play would be #1 to fold PF, but as played I should have smooth called the turn and called a river bet. with 33, 66, J3, J6 and J7+, I'm toast and he'll call. With a middle pair, he may fire out a third bullet on the river and I can safely just call. The reason I pushed was just to further advertise my maniac image. Even in the chat box the dude was typing a whole lotta stuff and I could tell he was frustrated as hell :) just where I want him.

Never stacked him that session, but took a good number of pots from him and hope to play with him again soon. I think I played like a dozen pots with him, all of them he caved save one where my c-bet got check raised (again, after this hand) and I had to toss my hand which completely missed the flop.

Woops. Ya, he folded. :/

Like I said, I'm almost sure he had something like 99. Maybe even A6.
