This is a discussion on $2 NLHE 6-max: Pocket pair on the button within the online poker forums, in the Cash Game Hand Analysis section; PokerStars - $0.02 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4
Hero (BTN): 151 BB
SB: 106.5 BB (VPIP: 26.92, PFR: 19.23, 3Bet
Afterwards I was thinking about this hand:
Should I have raised on the flop and fold if he reraises?
Any other mistakes you see here?

Absolutely raise post flop, especially after the check from SB. Going by what you did though, obviously you need to fold after the turn with his raise once the Q comes up, and given his stats I'd definitely put a Q with A, K or even J kicker in his range so folding is the best option.

re: Poker & $2 NLHE 6-max: Pocket pair on the button
i bet if i was in your situation at the time of this happening i would have played it the same way. but since i have the luxury of watching all what happened after the fact i would say that cbetting the flop is a little better than checking given the fact that theres a flush draw on board you need to protect your hand. you might not have a verry strong hand but you still have a hand worth protecting. sure a percentage of the time villain could be trapping with sets, 99-AA, and A4. but i dont think villain is 3bet checking any pairs on a board like this. most likely Ax, broadway cards, and MAYBE some suited connectors. which is why i woould probly cbet something on the bigger side and just check fold if called.
