I think I may have bet too much on the flop, my original thought was that I would try to make it look like a steal bet with 2 overs and hope someone had pocket 10s or something, but now that I think back it was a little too much to bet. Any thoughts?

No, your play was good. The flop is a little scary with the pair and possible straight draw on the flop. With these limits, players will call anything preflop.

what hands are you trying to push out here? i dont think it's wrong to think of this as a wa/wb situation. i check and let someone bet a 2nd best hand here.

I'm not entirely scard of the flop, I'd bet $1, make myself look weak on the flop and attempt to induce a call from a player with overcards.

I think a pot bet on the flop is scaring people off your only likely to be called by another overpair or a 6.
