So for any of these wsop -- not necessarily the main event -- but I am wondering if you have to preregister for these events or if you can just show up in vegas the day of, pay the buyin, and get a seat.

Thanks.

I think you can register the day of at most if not all events including the main event. (you can even register later for it)

Its advisable to pre-register if you can for any WSOP event. I've heard that it can take a couple of hours of standing in line if you don't.

Some of the events cap the number of players so yes, register early.

ok thanks

i will keep this in mind for next year

had a friend that wanted me to fly out to vegas with him and enter one of the smaller $1500 events but i was wary of just packing a suitcase and hoping that we could get in to the tournies

(Disclaimer: I've never been to the WSOP, this is just based on what I read and how other tournaments work)

It depends on the event. Most of them keep registration open until the end of the second level, so it's only really a problem if the event sells out. If you wanna play a $2K PLO8 event or something you shouldn't have any problems. The $50K HORSE only had 30-something entrants at its designated start time, but they ended up with around 90 who registered at the last minute.

For one of the $1500 NLHE events that draw massive fields though, you might wanna consider preregistration to make sure you get a seat.

Queues might also be an issue, as mentioned above.
