2 questions...

I saw the "bad beat face" clip of Carter Gill.
It says he placed 371. Did this just happen?
The field has already gone from 8000 down to under 400?
When will the final round stuff be televised on mainstream TV?

Also, I have seen wsop circuits being advertised for months.
How exactly do people play in WSOP for the $10,000 entry?
When do they fly to Vegas?
Obviously people don't take 4 months off from their job,
so how long does it actually take to play in WSOP?
Or do mane $10k entrants never even make it to Vegas on TV,
and most bust out at their local circuits?

Yet, this WSOP is still going on?
This guy is posting WSOP 2013 episodes from Mid Aug.
Is it called the main event? I see ME clips fro mid August?
Do people take 1-2 months off from work just to play in WSOP?

The main event started in july and played down to 9 players in 7 days. After it got down to the final table they pause play and wait until november to play the final table on live tv.

oh and days 1 and 2 each had an 1/2(A), 1/2(B) and 1/2(C)

so total of 11 days ( July 6 to July 15) to get down to nine players.

The footage you are seeing now is from july.

They changed it to November 9 since 2008 I think. Before they just played consecutive days for the main event.

They take 3 months off to play the final table??

If you are making it to the final table, you are probably not thinking about work much at that point, besides if you are a working joe and want to play the main event I guess thats where two weeks of vacation comes in handy, 7 or 8 days for the initial and a couple of days for the final table. I do believe its lately been life changing money for all seats at the FT in the main events, although havn't really been checking out results for a while.

Either way if I make final table at the wsop ME, I am probably taking three months off in between to work on my game and improve as much as possible so I can have the best shot at taking home the multi-million $ first place........oh to dream.

Personally I think a break is great, doesn't have to be the three months but after playing seven days straight for what like 12+hours a day maybe I think giving time for all participants at the final table to refresh physically mentally etc is good to have them playing their best game. However the same could be true to have it just finish so that would be a determining factor of who can actually still play the best game after such a long tourny.

Personally I would like to have the time for rest, relaxation and focus on the game. Study the players at the final table (its possible could be some of them you havn't played against so study time would be well appreciated), especially when talking that kind of money.

Does anyone know why they actually take a three-month break? Is it for TV ratings? Clearly you're playing great/running great to make it to the final table, wouldn't you want to keep going? A lot of the final table players will hire a coach to help study other players, change up their own style, I just think it's over-thinking it a bit.

Is there a website that tracks the bust outs of all high profile players?
Like what number did the youtube stars like Helmuth, Ivey, Dwan, Dan N, etc all get knocked out?
I'd like to see that data.

There is a drop down box on the right side at the top of the updates feed that has all the days listed.

Also has chip counts and what position each player busted out somewhere as well I think.

I also wonder if every old champ returns to play forever.

When does Johnny Chan bust out?
Doyle B?
Does that Chris Ferguson play every year?
All the recent noob winners (Raymer, Hachem, Gold, Yang, Eastgate, Cada, etc)

I bet it's a very good lesson to see some of these guys bust out on day 1 or 2, and realize you can play perfect poker and still bust a MTT on the first hand. Year after year.

I met a friend of a friend who made the ME FT in 2009 once you to the FT you don't really have to worry about working any more first off if you make it there the wsop will cut you a check for what ever 9th place cashes at and then there is the sponsorships after that. Every person on the FT is prime real-estate for some sort of logo.

Not really. 9th place pays $700k. After tax, you keep $350k. I can guarantee you that doesn't last one year for half these gamblers. Being on TV with a big payday means 100's of relatives and "friends" find your house and ask for a handout. $350k is nothing. Basically pay off your house and car, and go back to work on Monday. If you make 5th, you take home $1m. Same logic above, except maybe a new house. $1m really is not much.

This^^^
When I was out there in July I spoke to Raymond Ramhe who was at the final table a few years ago. His sponsorship money from pokerstars alone was a lot.

With that Full Tilt scandal, I don't think so.

When that black friday happened, did people just lose all the money they had in their online poker accounts? Was it ever returned? Did people lose their life savings? Was the money confiscated, or were the sites Ponzi's that spend the money, or both?

I get 9th in the main event I will not be returning to work on Monday. And $1m is not that much? Mind giving me $100k that's almost nothing. :sly:
