i just got a scenario where i may not have made the right play but boy o boy did I get lucky. This happened last night. I was in Late position and i got 2-2 (need i say offsuite, lol). SO with only two callers and the sb and bb right next to me, I made a 2x bb raise. I actually achieved exactly what i wanted: sb-folds bb-folds and i get two callers. So a five handed hand down to three now, An important thing is that I have been playing only 15-20 % of all hands dealt, very conservative. So 6-2-2 comes out on the flop. Now I obviously won this hand so since the hand is not the pioint ill just say that one player took it down to the end with me to showdown and I never put him all-in and he never bluffed all in. The point is, on a hand to hand basis we try to make the best decisions we can with the way other players are representing their cards, and what our cards are. I could have said: two previous callers, still sb and bb out there can have anything, and folded. But i have to remember how they view me, and NO ONE thought i had even one 2 in my hand at that point. So did I make the right play? well in hind sight yes but I could not have said " oh what a stupid play, why did I lay that down " if I decideded to fold to a potential 5 handed hand with a mere pocket 2's. THe way it worked out, i was happy that I at least saw the flop.... and what i hope some people take from this is, we make decicions for a reason. look at your decisions, look at your reasons and if they were both good, dont beat yourself up just because it didnt work out the way you thought it would; or should have, because after all its poker, maybe it just (was ?) wasnt in the cards.
