Anyone else find it a lot easier to tilt in live games? I know I do. When you are only seeing max 40 hands an hour, a few bad beats can really drive me crazy. Online I rarely tilt, since I know I can see the volume to account for the variance. I have been hitting some wild shit recently live, and I think its also harder because you can't as easily review your sessions to see if you made a bad play here and there. Any suggestions on dealing with this?

I actually find it easier to keep my cool when playing live. If I take a really bad beat I'll just stand up and go smoke a cig or have a beer and take a few minutes to remind myself that I did nothing wrong in the hand (if that's really the case) or to just forget about it... then come back to the table when I'm feeling better.

Well, tilting live is easier on live becaise all of the pressure and bad beats seem more real. Yea just get out of the table drink something, take a walk, come back and you will probably be fine.

I have found that I am built for online play, I've put in so many hands online that when I play live I either do really good or really bad, hardly ever break even. So Im gonna just stick to online.

I'm usually pretty cool at the tables.. but I did tilt once live, and this is pretty embarrassing, because this is not the type of person I am. First time I've actually talked about this on CC.

I was in the middle of a hand. Had AQo.. and I had to pee pretty badly. This was at a bar tournament. I flopped a 2 pair on a rainbow board. I bet. Calling machine calls. A 2nd heart comes out. I bet again. Calling machine calls. 3rd heart comes out. I bet yet again. Calling machine calls and flips over his runner runner flush. I can't remember what he had exactly, but I remember he didn't even have a pair before he hit the flush.

I proceeded to muck my cards, but I ended up tossing the cards at the player, and then got up to go to the bathroom. I apologized when I got back.. but the table was quiet for the rest of the tournament.

These days, I don't tilt at the tables anymore. And I don't get mad at another player.. I'll get mad (not tilting mad) at myself for playing a hand like an idiot and losing, or if I'm on a bad run.. but I don't tilt on players like I did that one time. Players like that are good for the game... it keeps the bad players playing to help make the good players money. In the long run, just know that you will come out on the positive side if you play the right game. I find it easy to just blow off a bad beat and say "nice hand" to the other player these days.

Also, I second Lark's suggestion.. Jared Tendler is a great mental coach that we are privileged to have here at CardsChat, answering questions. Definitely shoot him a question or two.

I usually dont tilt because I have the attitude that I can come back no matter what (doesnt mean that I do, but I try) I have tilted live way back when I couldnt understand the bad beats but I since realized that I do get a few bad beats go my way so it evens out. The worst tilt live was because of the dealer, I had the nuts flop and the only guy in the hand was betting out big and I called (this guy was also a bounty for a prize) and the dealer was talking to someone and accidentally mucked the cards on the table, just shuffeled them up beyond repair at the same time 3 of the players were trying to tell him to stop that there were still two players but it was too late he did it so fast, needless to say I was on tilt since I would have taken out the bounty and I ended up complaining to the boss but the damage was done and I went out (with good cards) but my head was not in it. Doesnt happen on-line!

I understand exactly what you're talking about. I have a hard time controlling my emotions whenever I play live. Sometimes i'm able to stay calm and relax, other times I'm not, i guess it depends on the beat or even my mood.

I guess having a cigarette or a small walk, would help, but sometimes is inevitable.
