is it acceptable to talk hands?

i was playing at FT, and i admit was talking a few hands

at the end of one checked down hand, i hit a straight on the river, and typed 'straight' into chat and put out a reasonable bet

afterwards one player asked me not to 'reveal' my hands during play

i said 'hands are revealed at showdown' and 'if i want to make a verbal bluff what's wrong with that?'

he said he would report me to admin

i said 'please do, i'll take a ruling'

what do you people think? is it acceptable to state in chat what you may or may not have?

anno

Absoulte's website: Players are reminded that revealing your cards in chat while a hand is still in play is contrary to the rules, and may result in a loss of chat privileges and further action as is deemed appropriate in the circumstances.

Unless this guy emailed support. . .and even if he did. . .I doubt you'll be chat banned or anything for 1st offense, especially when the hand was basically over.

Actually calling your hand out (and being honest about it) could quite easily be construed as collusion. Don't do it.

I'd be surprised if you don't get a warning e-mail from FT soon (though then again it is FT, so maybe the support monkeys are busy peeling bananas or something)

Anno,
I do believe if you were playing live you couldn't say your hand out loud before you made your move. I'm not sure what they call this but there is a name for it. It could also be construed as collusion. I could be wrong on this.

Anyone else? ooooops DM beat me to it.

I believe there is one circumstance in which you can tell your cards while the hand still in play - if you are the last to act and everyone else is all-in you can tell since it will no longer affect any of the other players decisions. I may be wrong though, if anyone knows for sure please correct me.

Well that means any verbal comments made about your hand is a lie, and they would act accordingly
