Had a horrid downswing this weekend which I won't go into (read my blog if you want details), but during this swing:

pocket pairs: net = +$51.45
Suited cards: net = +$120.15
offsuit non-pairs: net = -$440.15

So if I had just folded all offsuit non-pairs (AKo was my 4th worst hand in terms of money lost) I would have won an extra 440.15. So next time you make fun of someone playing soooted cards, just see the advantage they have over unsuited cards :)

Thats all I needed to know, from now on I'm folding AKo and playing 27s, even if its a large portion of my stack. Anyone think they can find me a game?

ACE KING is only favored preflop. Be ready to fold after the flop if you don't hit.
Suited vs non suited is about a 5% advantage on average. Ask yourself this simple question. Would you play these cards if they were not suited. If the answer is no FOLD.............

lol just so you know I was somewhat kidding. I'm pretty sure Chuck understands playing AK, both suited and unsuited. I think it's just more of a luck thing. Obviously suited cards will have an edge, but not that huge of an edge. I'm sure if some people looked they'd see unsuited cards did better (and of course we all know offsuit cards are better, they can make 2 flushes, suited cards can only make one :)).

This was one of the major changes I made to my ring game play: I have tightened up HUGE w off suit broadway.

While it's true that the overall difference in strength is about 4% you have to remember that that statistic is for seeing all five cards to the river. The fact of the matter is, suited cards PLAY much different on earlier streets than off suit cards of the same rank. However, please don't mistake this for justification for playing big/little type hands, or for playing suited junk out of position, or any other such statement. Simply, that being in position w suited cards gives you a lot more options.
