The reason professionals on TV do it is 2-fold. First, they may have larger portions of their
bankroll at stake, so reducing variance may be more important. Secondly, they usually only run it twice when they have a lot of history between them and believe neither has a signifcant long term advantage over the other.
I see this second case frequently in live play except in a different form. Regulars in a card room may openly check down to the river in small pots because neither thinks building up the pot is advantageous.
But I agree with Fknife. At low limits, against weaker players, you should have no reason to run it twice.
