Ok looked everywhere, could not find it, tried the blog, google, main page, hell you can see from the number of entrants it was hard, thats pretty screwed up to that, to that many people over a freeroll. And I would have helped my bros out, but not until the last 5 min. I asked when it was down to 4 minutes, after searching everywhere first. This sucks cause I placed yesterday.

Just out of curiosity, why? And which particular rule would that be?
With the whole internet to search, and so many zillions of permutations to consider, why would this be covered under the rules?
Brings up a question as to whether this is a community or not.

The short answer is because we don't want our passwords simply posted for the taking in other forums.
We go to great lengths to protect our passwords and minimize the sitouts in our games and wouldn't like our passwords simply strewn about. That's why the passwords aren't even posted until one to two hours before the events. It's also why you must be a registered member to get the FR password. And it's why we look for 15 quality posts to get the buy-in passwords. We do not allow postings as a courtesy and hope that other forums will respond in kind.
Well, it's a good point you raised. It is sort of vague, to be sure. You could easily lump this under the "promoting a commercial site" rule. Failing that, drop it under the catch all "admin/mod decisions are final" and accept as the "I'm the mom, that's why" answer. Either way, I'm looking into spelling it out more clearly to avoid future misunderstandings. However, that doesn't change the fact that posting passwords for other private events when you are not the owner is not allowed.

However, these particular pokerstars Trivia freerolls fall way outside the 'other forums' notion.
If you do this with these, then any mention of any game played anywhere whether passworded or otherwise will fall into that grey area.
PS's intent here is to gather folks interested in PS, and maybe , if such a person exists, PS historians. They set it up so that one has to search for many of the answers, or to have blundered on it somehow, and still remember where they blundered on it.
In yesterdays case, I made an honest attempt to find that pw before I posted that question. I was actually hoping I would be able to tell others the PW when they failed to find that illusive trivial fact.
I still think the bigger issues is whether or not this is a community, or is it more like a insider/private chat room or semi public blog?
I see a clear distiction for example about posting another forums PW here, or posting the pw's from here there. But these PS trivia freerolls are so totally different.
As for the 'promoting a commercial site rule'. CC is already in cahoots with PS, and ,I'm guessing here, part of those cahoots are to avoid anti PS posts where appropriate. I could be so far off the mark here but common sense suggests good taste prevail.

I guess the issue appears to be when you try to draw the distinction between forums and poker sites. The simple rule at CardsChat is this: You are not allowed to post passwords on this site for password protected tournaments that you personally do not own. I'm guessing that you don't own/didn't create the PS trivia tournaments, therefore you posting their passwords is not allowed. There is no gray area. If you call their support team and ask for one of our passwords, they will tell you to contact us. Therefore the concept is the same, whether forum or poker site.
And what admin chooses to post here or affilliate with is irrelevant. Cardschat can promote who it wants as affilliates and can dictate what members can post. It isn't a totally open and free community. We still have rules. CC requires you sign up to be able to post and also has the loyaler section which is very limited, invite only access.

Your point is well taken about the PS trivia fr's being a bit different - however it is probably best for the sake of consistency and to avoid issues in the future to just not allow password sharing at all unless it is for a tournament or event that you set up yourself.
If you have read many posts here at all you know that sites we support and have tournaments at are regularly criticized by members - everybody has their favorites and ones they don't like and can freely talk about it. (tho the rigged junk is always gonna get heated responses lol). So - "in cahoots" only applies if you mean we support them by posting events to be held at their sites and they support us by letting us have our name on the events we do set up.
And as for the mod's decisions being final - somebody has to do it.
