This is a discussion on Pro players at the beginning within the online poker forums, in the General Poker section; I am wondering how pro players became so successful. Lets take Tom Dwan as an example. He only made a deposit 50$ and made millions.

my opinion
Pros make it big by gambling an all or nothing game. They play people who are equal to their game. See someone has to win. You play people just your ability.

Someone has to be the best, you have the knowledge, happiness, money, talent, sponsors, coaches, courage, and their lucky stars that give Messi, Djokovic, LeBron, Gretzky ...

Evaluate the success of others players just looking by far is inaccurate and only serves to harm us.

Pfff, this happened when Poker rooms actually cared about their service above anything else, there was a competition between a lot of sites now is pretty much a pokerstars monopoly and a few crappy tiny sites scraping for the leftovers. Promotions were crazy and the amount of new and bad players signing up everyday was huge.
20x more difficult to become a pro nowadays... thanks to the US ****in government

if you are above average at the very beginning and playing people worse than you then you can make a big bankroll. for them they just keep the bankroll moving until they get high stakes where its much harder to vs pros and you start to lose more

studying a lot. Analyzing your game, the hands that you have played, things like that.
I think, the biggest key of the success is the patience
