During my weekly tournaments, we post blinds for those who will be a little late. But, last week, it was getting out of hand. One player was a half an hour late and the blinds were already raised once. So, I ask you, how long should you post blinds for someone until you finally take their chips off the table and mark them out?

Interesting question. It depends on how strict you want to be on the issue. We had the same problem, but keeping in mind that your not playing the wsop, and keeping it friendly.

We let the "late" player(s) sit out until they arrive, leaving their chip stack intact, and make them post 1BB and 1SB when they sit down. Now if the offender is an hour late and the blinds have increased its fairly punishing. Plus they have missed the cheap rounds

I'd set a rule beforehand - give everyone a phone number to call if they're gonna be late and say something like "if you're going to be late let us know - we'll post for you for the first 30 mins but if you don't arrive by then then we'll deal you out of the game".

If someone calls to say they're gonna be late, it's a discretionary call but you could say something like "if you've called and you're still not here an hour after the start time you'll be dealt out".

Or you could just keep posting for them until if/when they eventually arrive. If they turn up 2 hours late and have a 5BB stack, it's their fault for being late. :p

Solution.... don't be late. That's what i think. But at our home games, we play cash / ring games (not tourney) so we don't post blinds for ppl that are late. They just buy in when they get there and cash out whenever they are ready to leave...
