I was in Chicago several years ago. But, I remember there are 2 Harrah's casinos nearby. One is called Harrah's Joliet and the other is called Horseshoe Hammond Casino. I believe Horseshoe Hammond is a little closer and is about 30 minutes away.

Check out Chicago Charitable Games, they run about 3 tournaments, sit n gos, and cash games almost every Friday and Saturday. Additionally, some of the casinos around here have tourneys as well.

A tournament league is starting up at Harrah's Joliet in January, Hollywood in Aurora has tourneys two days a week I think, I enjoy the tournaments over at Horseshoe in Hammond, IN as well.

Are the tournaments pretty solid at Harrah's Joliet?

Unsure, I haven't tired them - though I do plan on playing the weekly league starting in January, as the winner of the league gets a wsop Main Event seat.

not sure where in Chicago you are but check out Chicago Charitable Games and Rockford Charitable Games. i have also played several tourneys at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, IN (WSOP Circuit Stop) and Majestic Star Casino in Hammond ( a stop on the Heartland Poker Tour). there is also Rivers Casino in Rosemont. if you have any questions just let me know and good luck
