Well ive had to be there for my best friend for the last few weeks because of his mothers early, untimely death. she was only 61, and thats still young. im 25 and im considering trying poker full time. well not full time but having it pay the bills. im not too far from atlantic city and i feel its time to start chasing my dream so to speak. i dont like my job too much which i know is the case for most. the difference is i feel i can do something about it. i feel as though if i go to the casino 3 times a week, maybe 4, i can for sure make as much if not more money than i do at my current job. so i think im gonna try it for a couple months or so and see how it goes, worst comes to worst ill go back to my old line of work, but i dont see that happenning. i regularly make about 300 maybe slightly less each trip to a.c. so........this could be fun. anyone else ever try, or now doing the same?

Before you give up your day job, make sure that you have what it takes to make money at poker.

There is a lot more pressure playing poker full time, compared to part time. When you are playing full time, you seriously can't afford to lose, because your entire life relies on you making money. Wheras when you hold a job, you can afford to lose, as you have a wage backing you up.

Just a note, I couldnt draw a link between your best mates mother passing, and you decision to play poker full time. Although it is sad that his mother has passed, i think you are using it as some type of excuse to justify why you are going full time. If you need to try and justify why you are going full time, you are probably not quite ready to go full time.

Do you keep records of your poker bankroll. Because if this indicates that you are making a steady amount of money, that is your best guide.

Rellying on poker to supply you with a weekly wage is something you need to tink serious about. It can be done, but it is not something that you should take on lightly.

Good luck

I am currently making a living off poker and it is not easy. When u are playing but u have a job its not that hard, but when ur job is poker and paying ur bills on time is on every call u make or dont make its very hard. It adds a whole lot more pressure to u. so i would make sure that 1 u a have the skill to do this, 2 u have some put away so if u do go broke 1 night u have money in reserve to life on and 3 u can take the pressure cuz ive have friends who i have tried to make it as a poker player and just couldnt take the pressure. So i say go for it but make sure ur ready when do it
