Is limpin in pre-flop and jus calling raises the new way of profitable poker?

It's all im seeing it in tournes online and live poker. Even in cash games and ppl gettin paid off massively too.

Allmost every1 in the casino tourney was like LIMP, LIMP, LIMP, LIMP, (i raise with a decent hand) then they all call my raise. it's like WTF?!?!

It's like im rasing with my good hands (AA or AK etc) n they arnt gettin called or missing flops.

Plus playin this aggresive way isnt realy doin much these days. Diesnt realy seem to b gettin anywhere in MTT's or cash games.

I like to limp early in tourneys when the blinds are low, but once things get going a bit, I tighten up and save my ammo for bigger spots. Limpers are frustrating to play against sometimes, but I still think people who do it too often are doing their opponents a favor.

You see this a lot at the lower stakes, but when you get up higher I haven't seen this as much, online or live(although when I do see it, I see it more online).

If I were you and wanted to get those people out of the pot, just make a bigger raise. Anyone can call a min raise or 3xBB, so make it 5 or 6X next time

Just because you are in a casino playing higher stakes than you would online, doesn't mean the players are better. You are probably still playing the lowest stakes possible and people go to casinos to gamble.

So when I go to AC and play in a $100 tourney, the players are equivalent to a $2 tourney online. So naturally they will LIMP, LIMP, LIMP, CALL, CALL, CALL.

Easy example...blinds are 50/100, I'm in middle position with AA, I raised to 600, got 3 more callers. Flop was J 8 x rainbow. I bet about the pot, someone min-raised me, other 2 fold, I shoved. He insta-called with...Q 10. Fortunately he missed his straight.

Honestly,

I think limping and calling small raises with speculative hands like suited connectors and one or two gappers is very profitable if you get multiple callers and are disciplined enough to let go of the hand if you miss and aren't a chaser. Those are the hands that are completely hidden and will stack an opponent if you nail the flop.

Of course you can only do this when the blinds are low or your stack is well above 20 M when the blinds are higher.

On the other hand, the great hands like AA, KK, QQ, Ak etc don't really increase in value til later in the tourney when playing speculative hands is too expensive. So, early tournament, I wouldn't go crazy with them trying to get donks and fish to fold preflop. Play them standard by raising your normal amount, evaluate the flop and go from there. Don't overplay them preflop or postflop. You have to be disciplined enough to let them go and not lose too much money with them. In the early stages of tournaments, these hands always seem to win small pots or lose monster flops because they get overplayed. These hands true accuulative power lies in the middle and late stages of the tourneys where you'll stack people.

This is the reason that so many people are out of tournies early is because they play way too many hands when the blinds are low and throw them away when they miss their flop and never play aggressively with them. And because of those people, you need to be aggressive pre-flop with those premium hands like AA, KK, AK, etc.. because if you try to slowplay early on then one of those hands is SURE to call you and beat you on the flop, then you will be on here complaining about how your AA lost to 35off when you tried to slowplay.
