I find that online I tend to just want to take the pots down, as opposed to in live games where I try to extend the hands with lower bets. I wonder if anyone else plays like this; I wonder if it is the wrong move but the bad beats online- despite the vociferous opponents of this view- happen much more often. I wonder if the implied value I lose by playing to take the pots with the lead is greater than what I would receive playing extended pots and yet receiving a greater number of bad beats/suckouts/etc.

It only happens more online as you see more hands. IMO I think you should value bet all opportunities, you may lose sometimes, but the times you have a good read and know you are ahead you get paid outweigh the times you check because you're scared of being beaten by a freak hand, for example, i always value bet flushes and straights and sets, even though i may be beaten iwant max value from opponents who can't fold. You should'nt be terrified of losing some big pots if you are playing with proper BRM

I think because you cant actually see the chips in front of you when you play online that it is easier to play quickly and not really notice you are doing so

I find that I too slow the pace down a little more in a live game

From what I have seen you have to make the bets when you are ahead big eneough so that you make the donks seing the cards pay eneough for the times you win to offset the bad beats. And the reverse is true if you are going to be the donk. You want to get into the hand as cheaply as possible and then bet aggresively when your suited connectors and small pairs hit.

Its fun to mixit up so you keep your opponents off balance.

as by way of example I just AA against a loose player so I raised 4xbb and he called. I checked into him and he bet the pot and I reraised all in trying to take it down. He called with top pair- he was holding king8 off-- and he hits the 8 on the river for two pair.... i hate poker right now

the most important pot of the month for me and it gets donked like that

If you're playing within bankroll you don't need to worry too much when your AA gets cracked. Yeah, it sucks, but mark this player, play him again and know that over time, you're gona make money from this fish.
