I think you bring up an interesting point in the development of online poker. Your suggesting that changes will happen over time at the state level (through state legislatures) as opposed to on a federal level through an act of congress. This means that any particular state could vote in legal online poker at any time. If you want to have an idea of how close it is research news articles pertaining to the Arizona/California legislatures and whether or not their considering votes on poker bills. It wouldn't surprise me if either of those states legalized online poker, its a revenue generator. MY hope is that we get some legal online poker in new England sooner than later

Well here in the GREAT state of NY ( J/k) they just passed legal casinos a few weeks ago. I guess a Pstars lobbist was also in the state. So I am hoping NY will be next. I am guessing once CA and NY eventually get their heads out of their asses and realize 1) it shouldn't be illegal and 2) and more importantly what they care about.. how to regulate and tax it.

Once these states hop on, I think a federal bill would be in the works.

Carls prediction: 2017-2018 Federal Bill Passes

2015-2016 ** wishful thinking 10-13 states will be legal.

Online poker is not going to expand, especially in the U.S. and canada. War on online gambling is real and we already know who the winner is. Online poker is a SCAM of huge proportions and it's got to go!

I hope you're right about a federal bill. Having a handful of poker-friendly states is not a long term solution.

It has to happen. More and more states are looking into it as they notice how much $ there is involved.

It wouldn't make sense to have 50 different states with different rules. Plus once the monopolies start going, I.E. wsop's brand for example, will want to combine all the pools from different states.

Again, I am at work and can't google most things because they are blocked... but the AGA just hired one of Obamas campaign managers to represent them. Just google "Online Federal Poker Bill" in the news category.

I am hoping by November there will be some sort of bill that gets introduced!

I know, right? The WSOP circuit was schedule for Cleveland two years in a row...and got canceled two years in a row. So disappointing.

Ya, I'm so POed. So many Ohioans have been looking forward to the circuit. I doubt they will even build the new casino they promised us. Last I heard they were thinking about knocking down all the walls in an upper level of the Horseshoe and making it one big poker room(enough for the capacity of the circuit events) but that never happened.

I'll believe it when I see it when it comes to "Phase 2" or whatever the hell they call it. I'm not sure I'd want any second casino to have a poker room. It might hurt the action to spread out the player pool.

California already has more live poker rooms/casino's than NV and NJ combined. And at this point, they see no reason to legislate anything about online gaming.

Unfortunate, but true. However, we have the full gamut of those online sites that are willing to operate in the US.

My semi educated guess is that the folks most against online gaming are the B&M Casino's, largely the Indian gaming concerns. If it were up to the populace of the State, complete access to worldwide OLP would be the rule of the land.

you're probably right. but where I have played in California, I would rather play online (with the exception of the bike and commerce). the 3 Indian casinos I've played at have mainly 1-2 no limit holdem or 2-4 limit. no omaha , omaha-8, or stud games. that's why I like online gaming.
