so far i won around 1300 as of a couple days ago, over about a few weeks. i cashed out 800 and had 500 left, within the last day i lost 500 + 50 more that i added to my account which i still have a few bucks left from th... i know that i'm still ahead but i get this horrible feeling and impulsion that i have to win it back (tilt) which is actually what lead to the 500 getting lost.

my question is, is this normal, or do i have some sort of gambling problem do you think?

i'm not a bad player, but when i feel like i need to win my money back i make stupid mistakes and i KNOW i should get off the computer but i never do.

thank you all

Sorry to hear about losing 500,
bankroll management is important and you learned your lesson. Tilting happens to everyone you just need to control it and not move up to regain losses, which I am sure you already know.
Just be smart and leave the table next time when you start playing different/ cards don't fall your way.

Start from the beginning.

What did you deposit initially before winning the $1300?

What limits where you playing?

What limits are you playing now?

What's your plan now that you're down to a few $$?

Losing 500 dollars is just management and knowing when to step away. I had the same problem a few months back. I had 120 dollars and when I got on a losing streak I refused to step away. Poker is just knowing your limits

Let me say it too...bankroll management. You have to expect upswings and downswings. I had a great run but the past 2 weeks I've lost a bunch of tourneys. I dropped 6 in a row, took 2nd, lost, took 1st, the dropped 11 in a row. And I'm not remotely close to haveing to reload. It's gonna happen. Don't play outside the rules and you'll be fine.

if it helps take a couple of days off don't think anything poker wise. then once you come back you be better to play again. i found my self when i lose alot that i take a week off to clear my head ..then i return to the tables and end up making the money again

When you think on tilt. take a break, i suggest try on another site. refrain grinding on the same site. Also make good time management, clear that you are playing for a profit not the extension of time. hope you get my meaning and sorry the bad english

I hear ya...been there done that

I had to take a 2 month holiday from the gambling scene...I was also giving in to tilt...to be truthful I have always given in to it..Tiltman..extraodinair. I'm hoping My ordeal will have readjusted my play style. I have a new plan for the new year..two words...patience and grind..if it goes back to the way it was..I'll quit forever..But that's my new years resolution...also never play while drinking out of bordom..cheers and good luck..

i was playing a mix between 3.30+R tourneys, 2.20 tourneys, 4.40 tourneys, .25/.50 tables, .50/1 tables (rarely), and like a couple times on 2/4 but i only did that to try it out i don't think i'll be doing that high again, i actually came out on top and just got out of there once i made like a hundred something.

sometimes have that same feeling, and already did this a few times! difficult to gain back what we want with this feeling, in my opinion ..
if the bets are not on our level, even worse .. but there are days that do not advance, loses with a crack of k, the pair .. But as you are guaranteed to not choose good and bad times to play and let the fight of our money! rs lol

maybe you shouldn't mix it up so much? I mean, play a couple tournaments at a time, play a couple cash games at a time, and don't play at different levels of cash and tournaments, get used to one of each and get good at them... then move up to higher levels. I think you're stretching yourself, play at a .25/.50 tables are different than the dollar tables.

That is very conservative. 40 buy ins is usually what I set for myself. Play to win and you will actually need less buy ins than if you just try to cash every time.

atleast you were smart enough to win it back i lost 1.3k in one day so you should be fine unless you tilt completely.

Some of my worst losses but also my biggest wins have came on TILT so I don't know what else to say other then for the most part playing on TILT is a horrible idea unless you really don't care about your bankroll.

it hurts our game a lot! i just do agree it because i do had the same problem like this, when i am playin these days i am feeling like that i am not good as before and i am loosing my money these days. Certainly i read about Bankroll management and they did help me to control the money but not the game.
these Bankroll managements are helpfull to control your money in various games and having the amount of you loss and you gain which all are in your control. But the playing style is different than bankroll management!
