Im assuming your new to live poker. If so then before you just take a seat and this is very important many beginners get discouraged by just taking a seat.
Before taking a seat you should watch the tables for a while. Reason is that a 1/2 table is not allways a true 1/2 table . Some 1/2 table preflop could cost alot more to play because of pre flop raises constantly. So to avoid it you must watch the tables and find a true 1/2 table.
Also make sure that you have taken care of any little things that would keep you from staying at the table. restroom ect..
So after all this and you sit down you should only think about getting to know how each player is playing. Right down to the very little things like watching a player get more money out of his wallet(see if he has alot of money or if he is running low.
After you get practice and you get better at getting to know your table within a short period of time. You can then even order a beer or mix drink and eat and talk trash all while knowing exactly whats going on in a comfortable fashion. Like scotty baby !
