Those of you like me who play live tourneys with Ipods, Zunes, MP3 players...

1. Did you generate a playlist?
a. if so how many songs are on it?

2. Who are your favorite artists to listen to while playing live or online?

and

3. Name one Song that really puts you in a good mood while playing.

---------

1. My playlist is called Poker Night it's 169 songs but its 169 songs I can listen to over and over again.

2. Oddly enough Enigma, ZZ Top, Eric Clapton, Dream Theater, Sixx A.M, Big Tuck (lol), AFI, Three Days Grace, The Police, Sting, All that Remains, Shadows Fall, and don't judge me I used to hate them but now I listen to them Fall Out Boy

3. It's going to sound stupid and redundant and uncreative but Ace of Spades by Motorhead... not because of poker but thats the first song I nailed 100% on expert on guitar hero.

Music is one thing that I think can really put me in the right mood to play. I love music, and as such It affects my mood and my temperament a good bit in general, and even more so when playing poker. One thing I love about playing on the computer is pandora.com. You can start by typing in some songs you really like or artists you like and it starts playing songs similar. When you are listening you can say whether you like the song or not and after a while it will start to play pretty much what you want. I think you should listen to music that you really enjoy that will put you in a good state of mind. Disturbed is my favorite band, and carries over very well to the poker table.

I listen to classical almost exclusively when I'm playing. I find the it helps to temper my aggression just the right amount and it allows me to concentrate better because I'm not paying any real attention to the music, it's just background.

I do have a poker playlist that consists of mostly calming music:

Sigur Ros
Mum
Yuhki Kuramoto
Tarentel
Brian Eno

If I start to drag or need to mount a comeback I have a 2 song playlist with:

Tool: Wings for Marie (part 2)
Sigur Ros: Untitled #8

These two songs start out pretty quietly and build up to a beautiful climax that really inspires me.

I listen to poker podcasts, it inspires me a lot to hear, say brian tonwsend as an example from last nights session, telling you how he built up from $50 when he started out playing. When grinding 2+5nl as i am now and probably will be for at least another month, its good to hear that a guy like him built up from a small roll himself and that theres light at the end of the tunnel for me :D

Not really a soundtrack, but oddly enough, I usually listen to Howard Stern. Kind of like the posters above w/ "dubstep mixes", I enjoy the show which keeps me from playing garbage to entertain myself.

I agree with WVHillbilly on this aspect. I find that listening to music that is uptempo with lyrics can distract me, and thus I listen to mostly instrumental bands.

Belá Fleck & the Flecktones are the band I enjoy the most when grinding

As for #3, Mike Anderson - Won't let it go (that easy) always puts me in a good mood

Websites like pandora and lastfm are good for longer online sessions. I've found a lot of good, new music that way.
