Spent the weekend in Vegas and only got to play one tourney cause of the girlfriend. Luckily I cashed. But heres the scenario...
80 dollar buy in. Noon. Caesars. 95 players.
I make it to final table as chip leader. After 10 minutes we're down to 8. This guy across the table starts talking about a chop. A few players deny it. He loses a hand is shortstacked and starts pushing for the chop. Still denied. I dont really care one way or the other. A chop here is 600ish for everyone and being the chip leader I wasnt superpsyched but i was getting hungry after 6 hours of play.

The problem was that he started getting real whiny. 'A chop is good karma guys' 'you're really that moneyhungry?'
I started bantering back with him and ended up jamming his bb with pocket tens. He calls and loses with an AK.
As I'm scooping his pot I say out loud 'anyone want to chop?' and he gives me the finger and tells me to **** off.

We ended up chopping with 5 players.
Any thoughts??

The SS on the table is always going to beg for a chop if he's an outspoken type of player. Nothing out of the ordinary...lol @ you asking to chop after you busted him. He'll get over it.

As long as there are no real short stacks at the table I think a chop is fine, You all get what you came for...

NH WP IMO

Obviously we can see why the short stack would want to chop but he can see just as clearly why nobody else would want to so he can hardly bitch about it.

Offer a chip deal rather than an even chop next time and see if he's as enthused about that :p

Worditst,
Thats why I posted, wasnt sure if I was way out of line there or not. Generally I'm kinda talkative and I like to joke at the table.
I've brought up a chop before and if I get denied I dont feel the need to bring it up again. I guess I was a bit of a dick and he was a bit of a nag. Not really the table image I want to cultivate.

Whats the structure at the Hard Rock? I really like the Caesars structure.

Funny. Something similar happened to me like this. The ss was pressing heavy and hard for a chop then he hit like 2 or 3 hands back to back and was no longing the short stack and then he made it clear he was NOT chopping. Funny - everyone left at the table called him a F***** Jacka$$.
It's not karma-you have to be smart about chopping and make sure its worth it. Simple as that. It's smart poker.

If I'm chip leader, chopping is not crossing my mind with 8 left. I would not have made the comment you made after the guy was knocked out, but that's me.

lol... that was funny.. and has nothing to do with karma. Sounds like the dude was getting a bit annoying anyways. That was just a good timed joke :D

If I were the shortstack that got eliminated, I would have laughed along with you.. but I also wouldn't have annoyed the table with constant chop requests.

I have heard that at the WSOP sometimes chopping the final table is done ahead of time. I see most final tables are chopped, part of me wants to play it out but I can see the logic in the chop, just seems like soo much could happen and you dont get a real winner. It almost seems like most are presured to chop and if you dont chop your gready or stupid or something.

The only chops I see offered is when it is down to players and they played about 6+ hours to that point. They are usually about even in chip amounts and the 1st place cash prize would be a good amount if you took 50%. That guy is an idiot. He knew he was probably not going to win and tried everything he could to get as much in cash money as possible.

there is no such thing as karma.

If people chop at the FT at a WSOP event how do they determine who wins the bracelet. Do they chop the money and then play out for the bracelet? Is it noted that they choped the pot in stats?

Its kind of like kicking him when he's down.

Saying that, on a scale of 1-10 for things that are out of line, this has to rank no higher than a 2! :D
