I have read alot of posts on here about people playing ace rag or they have ak, it really doesnt matter. when someone has a234 or akqj, these hands are not open ended, they are a gut shot. You cannot go higher or lower than and ace so you are dead to ONE Card. You have the same percentage of making a straight whether it is a234 or a345, you are dead to one card. Just posting this because, a lot of people have made comments about their "open End" straight draw, and it was really a gut shot. Sorry, just trying to straighten this one up.

well technically its 4 cards they are drawing too not 1

just wanted to clear that up ;]

(unless of course some of the other cards are exposed already, or are counterfeited with flush draws etc)

I have definatly heard it called just that "a Gut-shot" Straight draw, but i don't like it.

Borrowed from a MAJOR poker rooms definitions:

“Gut Shot” – To draw to and/or hit an inside straight.
“Inside Straight” – Four cards which require another between the top and the bottom card to complete a straight.

Wouldn't a term like say "single-sided" or "single-ended" straight draw be more apt?

I would prefer it anyway.
