I just watched Juanda win the wsop with some incredible play. He picked off Russians Demedov and Alhekin impressively on multiple bluffs. They said during his heads up with Alhekin that a new record for most hands at a final table had been set! I really enjoyed watching Juanda play and I think I have a new favorite player. He even seems ridiculously nice as after defeating Alhekin he asked if he could give him a hug! LOL!

Yeah I like him too. He played great poker against a really tough field. Him and Negreanu both said that it was really "sophisticated" poker being played, so I think it says something for how well he did.

I like Juanda. He seems to have a level head on his shoulders. I have never seen him get upset and blow up or loose his cool. He is really a likable guy and a great player.

awww he was too cute when he wanted to share his happiness with Alekhin after playing 9 hours of hu, and total of 22 hours final table : )
what an awkward moment!you could see Alekhin's complicated thoughts there:

"Oh my God, I just handed him the win after trying so hard."
"I was so close, what did I do??!"
"He now wants me to hug??!!" (as the cold Russian that he is)
"oH fck it I'm exhausted..." :)

It still should say something about Juanda's stamina. He was well composed all the way.

On a similar note, I was pleasantly surprised to see ESPN's coverage of the heads-up play include a montage to show how long it lasted and how tired they were. Usually all of the HU portions of ESPN final tables just show 2 or 3 hands and it's over.

When they play 22 hours is it 22 straight without sleep?

Juanda played great, though he sets himself up at times being uber aggressive with top pair heads up. I was glad EPSN showed the tourney as it seems to help fill the gap provided by less WPT on tv.

yeah, of course... It was the longest final table, and hu play ever played.

thats why Alekhin handed him the win, also didn't u notice the woman in the first row with her legs stretched and a blanket on top of her : )

I think I might give up too after 22 hours. Either that or become rabid if I lost lol

Yeah me too

I just watched that last night actually funny you made this post. I was really impressed by John and was pulling for him since there were 36 players left in the tourney. Finnaly an American champ overthere, even though he barely speaks english well lol. But he made some great plays even after playing the hands very questionably!:)

watched it the other night. john juanda is a great player and deserves that bracelet. seemed like the kid he was playing kind of gave up at the end after playing solid poker the rest of the tourny. john looks like a psycho killer when he tilts his head and opens his eyes wide when staring someone down.
