I am not sure if this is a coincidence or why this happened. Yesterday I googled pokerjoda who I had played many times to see whether there was any info on him. I had not played him in months and I had also suspected he/it was a bot. I read on these forums that others also believed that and had evidence that it could be a bot. I read some of the relevant posts. I also went to the Full Tilt forum and saw discussion on there re. pokerjoda being a bot. I was about to email FTP to ask them about this but when I opened up my email I found that FTP had just sent me an email saying that one of my opponents was caught cheating (they wouldn't say who) and that I would be receiving a refund. I know this was pokerjoda and I was wondering if anyone else received refunds for playing him. If so when. I found it very odd that I would get this message from FTP security right after I started looking at forums about it. I did receive my refund later in the day yesterday. I just want to know if it was sheer coincidence that this happened or whether FTP monitors forums to find out who has found out about this and they will only reimburse those people.

I did a little search of mine and it turned out that pokerjoda was indeed a bot and accumulated winnings regarding a period of time starting March 2008 till February 2009,up to 90.000$.It was a powerfull Polaris pokerbot that in order to keep a low profile played only one cash game or SNG at a time.

Unfortunately as long as money are in stake, these things will never cease....

Thankyou for the info. I am interested to know though if others got refunds for playing pokerjoda. I would like to know when they were notified if they did get these refunds. I just find it very strange that I hear nothing and then I read some forums about it, go to my email account to write FTP about it and find that they have granted me a refund for playing an unnamed cheater.

I reported here and on the Full Tilt forum in February 2009 that pokerjoda and blondini9 were pokerbots operating at Full Tilt. I supplied a laundry list of solid evidence. Nonetheless, in addition to receiving excessive criticism for exposing the bots, I was in turn banned from the Full Tilt forum and the thread here at cardschat was locked.

This week I was refunded by Full Tilt for games I played with blondini9 and pokerjoda bots along with this message:

"[FONT=Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]The full tilt poker Security department has recently concluded an extensive investigation and we have determined that some of your opponents were in violation of our site terms.

We have permanently closed all of the offending accounts. In cases of proven cheating, 100% of the confiscated funds are returned to the players who were victimized. The reimbursement calculation is based on the number of tournaments or hands played against the offending players, and the amount won or lost against them.

For a number of reasons, we are unable to provide any other additional information regarding this case, including the players involved and the game type where it occurred. We thank you for your understanding in this regard. The vigilance of our players in reporting suspicious behavior is an important addition to our ongoing diligence against unethical conduct, and we carefully investigate every concern of suspicious activity."

My refund was for exactly the amount that pokerjoda and blondini9 were up versus me.

I hope all players have been refunded, since the pokerbots have accumulated over $100,000 in profit.

All the best

Oftentimes folks enjoy making others feel stupid. I'm glad you were vindicated and glad you came back to prove you were indeed, right, no matter what the naysayers said and did. Glad you got your money back and the personal satisfaction of proving you were right. Feels good, doesn't it?:)

As I recall, he was asked to provide evidence but instead simply repeated his own assertions and then started insulting people who wouldn't blindly take his word.

Thanks for the update Dan. It seems that it was just coincidental that I started looking up pokerjoda again the same day that FTP sent me a refund for playing him. Anyhow, good to get the money.

As I recall, he was asked to provide evidence but instead simply repeated his own assertions and then started insulting people who wouldn't blindly take his word.

It also turns out that Dan was right and maybe those who doubted Dan should acknowledge that.

My reporting of the evidence regarding thefts amounting to over $100,000 thankfully resulted in the victimized players being refunded.

A series of thefts totaling over $100,000 is not a trivial matter. I only know that the blondini9 and pokerjoda pokerbots that were robbing players at Full Tilt were accounts registered from new zealand. I do not know if Full Tilt will be taking (or has taken) legal action. If legal action is taken, then the crime of robbery of over $100,000 could result in quite a heavy sentence.

Regardless, since I am one of the victims, I am going to look into if I can press charges. Yes, I have been refunded BUT if someone after a bank robbery, for instance, is caught and returns the money, they don't get to walk away -- and this case is no different.

Very cool. Im glad they got caught. And wtg Dan.
I have to admit when I was reading the posts from before, I had the thought that I didnt really see any evidence. But you stuck to your guns. Even if you didnt personaly catch him/her/them, not giving up on the issue was the best course of action if you really beleived you where right. Which ofcourse you where.

I also have to add another comment. In the past 2 weeks I have had a couple issues with FT and their support team(s) have been very helpfull. I also remember reading about how pissed some people where that FT wasnt doing anything about these bots. I beleive most of the comments where about receiving ganeric responses like: we are looking into this.
Seems like they where looking into it after all. I think FT did a good job here as well as all of the players who wouldnt back down.

:congrats: to everyone who had a hand in stopping the theif/theives. And a Thank You.

Thanks, and i will be sure to keep en eye out for pokerjoda and blondini9 on UB and stars.

Is that your blanket response to any victim of crime who decides to press charges?

Stupidity is infinite. Not an insult. Just a fact.

well i mean, what can be stupider than trying to press charges against someone who obviously ran the bot from a different computer than their house comp, so they won't know who did it anyways. and probly put the mailing address as something else.

and even if the mailing address was to their main house, the authorities in new zealand probably don't even care, and i dont think fulltilt is gonna be flying over there after them, so have fun going yourself. (that's where the waste of time comes in)

and on top of that, you already got your money back. this isn't about anything except a greedy, loser trying to get more than he deserves.

you're a loser bro.

Wow, I like to be in your neck of the woods when crimes are committed. So, as long as the criminal pays back what they took everyone should be happy and satisfied? And because Dan was right and would like to see the offender(s) brought to justice for their thefts you call him a stupid, greedy loser? You have no sense of what is right and what is needed to make sure that assholes like them don't get away with their crap.

If it wasn't for people like Dan and others like him, creeps who run these bots would get away with stealing and cheating us. More people should be like Dan.

Actually it doesn't really make sense, it sounds like the sort of gobbledegook that would come out of an advertising agency, stupidity is not really quantifiable. Fat chance of him pressing charges too, in reality. Talk is cheap - but lawyers and international litigation certainly aren't! :D

Do you recall how Dan conducted himself in the thread that was mentioned earlier :questionm

umm i think what the others were trying to say is that there is nothing u can do, its not like the industry is regulated.

ppl like dan are also responsible for false accusations against innocent ppl

and honestly, dan didnt provide concrete evidence so i dont know why he thinks his "investigation" was responsible for the banning

People like Dan are responsible for reporting what they find as abuses. poker sites investigate allegations and ban offenders. If enough complaints are made about certain players you betcha the sites are going to act upon it as they did with the superuser accounts and now these bots. Dan most likely wasn't the only one who complained about these bots. He was outspoken on different forums.
