I just saw an article that our Senators are weighing options to fund Obamas healthcare plan. The Senate is weighing options and basically looking for something to tax to pay for the plan. They are already overtaxing cigarettes.
This could be a great opportunity to email your Senators, putting the idea, they could tax online poker to help fund such an endeaver.I am sure poker will be taxed when it eventually becomes legal.Id rather see my tax dollars go to something beneficial to everyone, instead of some crooks.
How does everyone stand in this matter? If you agree or sorta agree,or have another idea, how about telling your senators. You can email your Senators here.Just click the link.

This won't work imo. The same reason marijuana isn't and won't be legalized in the U.S to curve the violence at and over the Mexican border. They don't want to legalize, so let the U.S. and their border countries suffer. Either way, they'll find another method to fund his health care plan but it sure won't be through legalizing and taxing online poker. I'm positive they already had several ideas and areas in mind for funding it before he was even elected.

umm have you noticed the debt? If we need something we can't pay for we just borrow/print more.

Also this doesn't make too much sense. The government has money coming in and money going out. It doesn't really matter what the money coming in is supposed to go to taxes on poker would just be under the revenue portion of the budget.

And finally we do not want to legalize poker on the pretense that it is for tax/revenue reasons. What happens when an idiot puts in a provision to take a percentage out of every pot? Say hello to 20% uncapped rake.

We want it legalized because it should be the choice of Americans to spend their money how they please. The revenue we gain from the people who are currently dodging the irs and not paying taxes is simply one extra benefit.

Oh yeah, that's all we need. More controversy attached to the online poker issue, by tacking on a tax to subsidize federalized healthcare plans. No thanks. I vote no.

As a health care provider and a poker player... Umm, the government is making so many great decisions, let's add in healthcare. This is a topic so deep and ugly I don't know where to begin.

Let's put this in perspective: To do a US tax return there is a 10,000+ page document that covers all aspects of taxation. WOW. To bill Medicare...the document is over 22,000+ pages. Anyone serious about the government taking control of healthcare is foolishly ignorent about the true conditions and situation.

It is one of those great ideas that seems so practical, like going all-in preflop with AKs. But when you really look at what you are saying, you will realize that you've made a silly move.

I'm not saying things are currently screwed up...not at all. I could spit anytime anyone says 'insurance companies'. But bringing in the government to 'fix'...no way. Allow US to control poker to fund the healthcare problem... no.
