Anyone read Dan Harringtons book on no limit poker?

I heard good things about it and was thinking of buying it.

What with the freerolls starting weekly on here next week it might not be a bad one for others to read hehe.

If you have got it, or have seen a review of it anywhere please give me a heads up.

Otherwise I may just buy it anyway and tell you what I think of it.

I have read it and loaned it too many friends who said they loved it too. I would highly recommend reading this book. It doesnt matter if your are good at poker or bad at poker, or if you have never read a poker book in your life, this is a good starting point. And I also cant wait for Vol. 2 to come out.

I'm sure its a great book and all, but PokerGeer, I think the man needs your help here. Has anyone else seen the way Dan dressess?

I mean, the hat he wears was probably pretty cool when Gilligan was on the island with the Skipper, Maryanne and the Professor and co.....

Anyways, if you have read the book, what specifically did you like about it eg, does he tell you how he plays specific hands in specific situations or is it more about the theory of tournament poker?

It's a permanent part of my bathroom library. Wan't to borrow it? I'll often re-read a particulary interesing hand or 2 before heading out the door, and chew on it during the commute. I've been waiting impatiently for vol. 2 and am phyched that it's out next week. Thanks for the info BDMK. Vol. 1 is getting a little stinky.

I just picked up Vol. 2 yesterday. I'm 1/2 way through it. It's the best Advanced Play book on Tournament NL Hold 'em Ive read. I recommend that any serious player add it to their library. I'll post a more comprehensive review when I'm done.

Oh of course. It's the bible. Super Systems 2 came out recently with updated chapters and articles by current players. All-in-all, the best book on Poker ever written. But it is not specific to Hold 'em. Each chapter deals with a different game. Harrington's book, vol.1 and 2. is specific to Hold 'em tournament play, and in that respect is far more comprehensive than SS1 or SS2.

It certainly flies in the face of Harringtons reputation for playing only premium hands. A great view into his strategy during the tournaments you have seen him play. Good read. Vol. 2 next.
