Fold those rags?

I guess it's usually the best move.

This last weekend, though, I would have flopped a boat no fewer than THREE TIMES after folding assorted trash, all in early position. Folded 10 2 three times last night when the flop came 10 2 x.

There is a certain special feeling when you see a flop like that after folding what would have been an almost certain money maker. I'm new to the game, I admit, but I don't think there is any way to get your cards back after you fold.

Is there?

I used to wonder the same thing but read a book that said to not give those hands a second thought. Yes that is going to happen but in the long run you will win more with tighter starting hands. If you are looking at too many rag flops you are wasting more antes which do add up.

Well you might have won those hands if you played them but over a period of time you will lose money. Early position with trash, say you limp in. A lot of people still to act and you might have to fold to a raise or put more money in the pot when you are probably behind. this goes against most accepted strategy. You wnat to get more money in when you have the best hand or at least a good chance to improve to best hand.

The only time I play bad hands is when I'm either BB or SB (by limping in) Then I hope to be "the underdog" and have my 83o beat an AK due to a nice flop (and get called a donk and other faltering names in the chat... but hey - I got richer )

Yeah, my post is really just acknowledging the 'Doh!' factor (lacking a better term) when you see that kind of a flop. (WAIT! I want my cards back!)

Gus Hansen's play notwithstanding, I'm going to continue folding that 52o even after seeing the 552 flop.
